Which or What is the best PAYG sim to have on the Polish mobile phone network? Im in the UK and i am trying to work out which is better value and what has better deals for PAYG sim -- i have an unlocked phone and would like to be able to use a polish sim in it.

Also if anyone in UK knows where i can obtain one (without physically being in Poland as i would like one prior to Summer 2007) please point me in right direction many thanks :)

You can buy Polish sim cards at

phonetek-nation.co.uk/product_details.php?id=1474

I think they only stock Heyah but it's great value for money when you're in Poland. However, using this card to call Poland from the UK works out pretty expensive.

I'm far from being an expert on cell phones and rates but this is what I'm overhearing about prepaid cards. The least expensive is Heyah, their starter kit card, with phone nuber costs 5 PLN and additional cards (minnutes) also avalable from 5 pln and up. Heyah is popular among young teenagers who'd now change numbers every week or.

Then you have POP, Tak Tak, Simplus . You buy cards in newspapper kiosks or in operator's outletes (quite many in shopping malls)

Merged: sim card - Essentials for moving to Poland

I'm moving to wroclaw in a couple of weeks to start teaching English. A situation that a lot of people here may be in.

I was just wondering if there are an essentials you would recommend i take with me (other than the obvious).

Also, a polish sim card would obviously be important - what would you recommend and where would be the easiest place to get it?

I would personally recommend either Orange or Heyah as far as sims go. As far as I know, Heyah has the most hassle-free package with the simplest rules. And low prices. But that is just what I heard from others, I've been a Pop pay as you go customer in Idea (now Orange) all my life :-)

Or if you get an m-bank bank account (free) they have really low priced pre-pay mobile. Works great for me.

Merged: Cell Phones - Getting a sim card in Poland

Maybe this has been mentioned before so I apologize.
Can I just go into the shop, pay the price for a prepay sim card and that's it?
Do I need to provide any details such as name, address so on?

I'm assuming all of the providers in Poland use sim cards.

Also out of my curiosity do phones in Poland allow you to type ąśęółżźćń in a text message?

Orange is a Popular provider.
And easily obtainable. In most countries.
if your Outside Poland. Get one and setup International Roaming.
It will just automatically attach itself to an available provider inside Poland.

Cool, I'd like to have a phone that could write those letters.
No real need I suppose but I'd find it to be cool.

/\ as regards to cheapest.... there is not a significant difference between carriers.

If u have Orange Go! prepay, it is 15 groszy per sms. International is 50 gr i think.

i get charged about 60gr per minute. Different length calls have diff charges for some reason. :S

If you have a Polish bank acct, you can top up your phone from the ATM.

most phones do, it's nothing to do with the sum card - you just need to change the language settings!

it's also pretty easy and cheap to get your phone unlocked here to allow it to accept any Polish prepaid sim.
