Men who wear socks with sandals should be lined up against a wall and shot along with men / boys who wear St Trinians looking long socks with trainers!

polishcanuck

Niche market sweety, spread the word...let them know that looking like an English public school girl isn't cool!

Even if your girlfriend said it turned her on?...

Lets face it most men will do anything if they think it's construed as being even slightly kinky in the bedroom!

You don't need to be so severe!!! socks and sandals are ridiculous tough...Actually I've never seen a polish guy dressed like that, most them I know dress pretty good...They have good stile

Even if your girlfriend said it turned her on?...

I don't think socks n sandals wouldn't ever turn on a girl

Unless she got off on humiliating the guy.

okay lets break your post down:

1. Yes I can be severe because crimes against fashions should be punished!
2. It's not rediculous, it's unforgivable!
3. Actually in Poland they DO wear long socks with training shoes, and they don't dress any where near to "pretty well" in fact they are FAR from "pretty well"

4. The Italians know what style is, Polish men alas have no idea, in fact, they are a million miles away from the letter S and no where near E.

don't think socks n sandals wouldn't ever turn on a girl

You have a lot to learn about men! Re-read what I wrote!

Unless she got off on humiliating the guy.

If I have to dress up, why shouldn't you? ;0) It's not about humiliation, its about fun!

ha ha can't wait till Polish guys at work start sporting this look again, it's getting pretty warm. i've been thinking about wearing podkolanówki with flip-flops this year.

Fashion victims are just that victims.... who deserve sympathy not ridicule. What about us golfers who are banned from playing in shorts unless we have socks on (in some cases in old fart club land they still have to be knee length socks). It's an easy mistake to wear socks with your trainers when you pop out to B & Q.

PS are my tie dye grandad shirts back in fashion yet?

LOL, they still have to at Chorlton golf club!

Socks are just fine with trainers, just not pulled half way up your leg...

well women dress up cause their like to, why should men bother to do the same if it's against their instincts

socks with sandals are often more practical - there are sorts of sandals (like the guy is wearing in the picture somewhere above - well they are not really sandals - they are called 'laczki' in Polish which comes from German Latsche(n)) that get quite slippery and dangerous when your feet sweat considerably.

and in certain weather conditions socks and sandals are more practical (which someone already mentioned above) - it's not always hot during summer

this said I actually don't wear sandals at all - I am not used to - i really like walking bare foot though
when you are going out in the wild sandals are simply impractical - it's not really nice to have your feet cut by thorns or burned with nettle or the like.

I would however agree (from my own experience too) then in hot climate (say southern Italy, not to mention anything further south) it is really more comfortable to wear sandals (and no socks) haven't been there much but when your whole body is covered with sweat regardless of in sunlight or in shade your feet tend to soak with sweat and no socks in shoes can last long in these circumstances

and ladies you can turn a blind or can't you :P

Yes, let's veto sandals on men.! After, further thought...It's just not right. Only @ the beach swimming to have slip on Addidas-temporarily.

Walking round the city in sandals is quite nice. Sandals and socks are for old dudes, those travelling types who are off their tree.

Sadie Ann, you have 100% of my votes

Have you ever seen Italians wearing sandals(that is since the Roman army!!)

no but they don't sweat as much as we do in their climate (I guess) - I have been there for almost a month and did not manage to acclimatize

well...
i see nothing wrong with sandals and (dark) socks. sure, white (or, in general, light colored) socks looks terrible (not only with sandals, but in general), but dark are ok. its definatly more comfortable than not-having socks

and, btw, its rather silly to laught on other people dress... especially on beach or, in general, on holiday... its not a bloody funeral, so no-one needs to be dressed 'officially'.

yeah, every man should always wear glany all the time, right?
(/me wears glany for over 10 years)

once my mother asked my teenage cousin from Słupsk why was he wearing socks with sandals (it was quite a hot summer then). his answer was that he didn't wash his feet. so maybe that's the real reason behind this weird combo?? ha ha...

Ha, it's this time of year again. With summer approaching, more and more polish men seem to think nothing about appearing in public dressed in shorts , with sandals and socks.. Am I the only one to find this type of outfit ridiculous??

I live in Arizona, and today I saw a guy wearing shorts, socks and sandals. No big deal.
I hope you are not suggesting that Polish men should wear those knee high socks, worn by the British: those knee high socks make them look like grammer or high school girls. Ta ta

Sometimes sandals can rub against bare feet and cause a calus, so socks protect your feet.

I asked about the sock/sandal thing once and I was told that it keeps your feet from getting dirty. (?)

So does encasing your feet in cling film.

Exactly, I am sure there are plenty of reasons (comfort/convenience) to wear the combo but it just doesn't look right (unless you are looking of course for the Mr Bean style..). As far as I am concerned, I prefer not to wear sandals at all, it is just too "flower power"..

Mr Bean style..).

youre right it's total Bean....there should be some kind of "style police" (dressed like Italian carabinieri) to arrest these offenders of public taste and decency, take them away and confiscate their socks at least.

For god sake, get some foot spray!!! Wearing socks with open footwear to be quite honest looks shocking! I'd rather have sex with a goat than date a man that wore socks with sandles!

you guys are such misers, it's just too expensive for you to buy new socks from time to time when they'll get too dirty.. and you should get some knowledge about the fashion industry, socks to sandals are really stylish..
