How can I know if car I am buying in Germany is stolen?

how can i get to know if the car i am buying is stolen or not? it is still with german number plates they have all documents, all the keys with spare ones, and no where in the car i can see anything wrong not even and glass bits on the carpet and i have all the details of the previous owner in germany what do you suggest???

You will need the Vehicle Identification Number VIN - usually on a plate in the engine compartment. If the VIN plate is damaged or missing it usually means it's been nicked.

Is that a complete database though? Looks like it only contains details of cars that were reported to their site.

i am buying a mercedes c class sport still german numberplates the guy have showed me all the documents and even all the books that come with car from mercedes and the number plates are still on. i think if it would be stolen the number plates would have been taken away what do you think?

certainly buying second hand from germany is a lot safer than buying second hand in Poland, a lot of the used cars you see here at the Komis are rebuilt crashed cars and many are also clocked.
