The Polish equivalent of Walmart store?

What is a Polish store thats an equivalent of a wal mart in the states? Growing up I just remember the market and a little super market-type store, but haven't been back in ages so I'm not sure what's new, what's added, etc.

Also I have a question about the internet. What are the different companies that offer cable modem and their price?

Thanks a bunch,

they aren't all Polish:
Tesco, Carrefour, E-Leclerc

Biedronka.

Interesting - E-Leclerc seems to be everywhere in southern Poland except Kraków. I wonder why...

If you mean the way the way they treat their staff, I would say the safest bet would be Biedronka.

I think he was referring more to choice of goods and services, lol, but you are probably right as well!

The way WalMart does business and as long people want to buy cheap, made in China stuff - the store will be in every country soon...

Actually, I buy certain household goods there and have no complains about them.
Go Walmart! :)

Reminds me of the book, Nickle and Dimed. Talks a lot about the employees at WalMart (aka the working poor.)

On the one side Walmart sucks as it finishes off other businesses and puts people out of work (real work where you get benefits and decent wages), on the other - they seem to be unbeatable. Prices are among the lowest, opening hours among the best and customer satisfaction policies pretty good (used to be better). Walmart also improved on the quality of some goods they sell.

The last thing I want to find in Poland is a Walmart! I had to learn to shop there while living in Florida as there weren't many choices.

'Real' is a big supermarket chain present in Poland, too.
