Polish-English Bilingual Bible

Do they exist? I know that the Bible has been translated into almost every language if not all, but do the bilingual version (PL-EN) exist?

If so, where did you see it, or find it, or get it? Also, which version is the closest version to the NIV(standard English so the most standard Polish)?

I speak english well, but not polish. So I can use it to learn Polish.

I am learning on my own on learning Polish. But it is quite slow and almost baby-ish. I will continue to learn the traditional way learning vocabulary, grammar, verbs, etc, but the bilingual books will help in my reading, putting to use the understanding of my standard learning, and also speaking, when I try to say the words.

I have a few bilingual works PL-EN but they are not hard copy. I am looking for something I can hold in my hand.

No offence m8, but it would be much better to learn normal conversational Polish first; Polish religious texts are not only more difficult to read than e.g. a magazine, but they also use a lot of archaic language as well. While I respect your interest in our language and its religious texts, it would surely be better to learn how to ask a for cup of coffee or how to ask a Polish woman for a date in Polish, than learning the names of the 12 apostles in Polish. ;) :)

Lol I already know how to speak basic things, I'm just looking for something that is translated and side-by-side and something I can hold in my hand. I tried looking, and they're hard to find unless they are electronic. I know that there are many bilingual bibles in almost every language so I tried to look for those.

I have a Muslim friend who has this MP3 device with the Koran on it exclusively.
The audio is all in Arabic (kinda blasphemous to be anything else) but it includes text translations for about 30 different languages.

They say the Bible is the biggest selling, most translated book there is so surely there must be something like this about.

While i wasnt serious about 'trying the Vatican' there must be some big international Church shop.com that sells this stuff?

and if not then i think i see a gap in the market!

you can get the Bible on many forms of media, but our friend here wants a Bisexual version:0 sorry Bilingual don't think it,s available yet but if you fancy translating for that gap in the market I will buy one:) lol one of the best e bibles I have come acrosss is esword, it's free to download. good luck with the hunt and if I find one I will send you the link:)

Lol, I meant to call myself this. I didn't think I would last too long here. I was here for a lot of the resources, and when time came when I needed to ask specific questions, I used this name just to get by.

However, this forum is very nice and there are many good people and very interesting and intelligent as well as humorous conversations, and I decided to get more involved in things other than the language. Some people I know also got me involved in Polish culture and this place is great to talk about it. I wish I could change the name if that were possible.

But it is not the full bible (I like the OT stories and their vivid descriptions of the miracles and the battles). Also it is not the NIV version which I am accustomed to. Also, in my original post, I had a question: What is the most standard regular language bible(w/o the extra books, forgot what those were called).

I have also searched for a Polish/English parallel bible and the previously mentioned NT is the only one that I found available.
Obviously you have considered electronic versions but be aware that Polish Catholic Bibles have the apocrypha and are in archaic language. There are protestant versions (One very archaic) but I don't know any protestant Poles so can't advise.

Unless the NIV has been revised since I last had one, you also have the problem that verses are not numbered at the start, only in the margin; which makes a parallel edition almost impossible and the same problem with a paper copy in each hand.

I've done the two langauages in separate bibles bit and it is not easy, even with Polish friends who speak excellent English.

Like i said it includes many translations in text, but (and i could be wrong) but i believe it can only be spoken in its original language. Every Muslim must learn Arabic to study the Koran.

(I may be way off here, but this is what i'm led to believe from my many Muslim friends)

Hi, I'm Polish and I've seen english-polish Bible in christian bookshops in Poland. I'm looking for one myself and can't find it here. I think I'll just have to get one next time I'll go to Poland. But it does exist :)

So I just thought that I'd point out, one that the Bible that 'Kemaleon' found was actually a NKJV which is not the traditional KJV Bible that you're thinking of. The New King James Version is a great study Bible very similar and comparible to NIV. I read NIV for many years, but always memorized verses in the NKJV because it is more descriptive. It's not in the old english, it's really a good option if you like the NIV. Oh yes, and as I tried many times to find the Old Testament in Polish, I found that I was unable to do so. However, for the price of that bi-lingual Bible I have to say it's a fantastic find! My Russian-English Bible (Old and New Testament) cost me over eighty dollars. NIV isn't really a common translation for bi-lingual Bibles, so you might just want to grab the NKJV, I'm sure you'll like it just as much as you would an NIV!

Don't know if it is still in print. Despite prior posts, using this + school can be a good way to learn Polish.
