the best polish movie for X-mas is.... wait for it.... "Home alone" ;-)

honestly having both parts of Kevin's most incedible adventures for EVERY Chritmas for over a decade now, I can't come up with even one polish movie about this season. :/

Hahaha that's so a part of lives of Poles during Christmas. It cracks me up, I remember every damn Christmas "Home alone".. a classic I think it's more of a Polish movie now because of that. Polish tv couldn't afford anything beside that stuff ehh..

"Noc św. Mikołąja" of about 10 or 12 years ago with naturszczyk Buczkowski - a comedy about a few prisoners being let out of prison for Christimas to help distribute gifts to orphans.

There are intersting Chrsitmas scenes in other movies including "Katyń". The most imrpessive was that in the film verison of Reymont's "Peasants".

A friend of mine: "For ten years I've been watching it and hoping this time the robbers are gonna kick that annoying kid's ass, and for ten years it always ends the same. Damn!". I admire his persistence :)

Guys, there are many Polish films about Christmas.

The most memorable to me is Decalogue, part 3, a series by K. Kieśłowski: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decalogue_III

TVP has done a series of theater films (a Polish genre with no particular equivalent in the UK or US) on various holidays. For Christmas they had one called Wigilijna opowieść, with Andrzej Chyra. It's not the Dickens story of the same name but rather about marital problems and eventual reconciliation in a working class family. Couldn't find any of it on youtube though.

There are some 'theatre films', in England occasionally, not many now but they were a lot more common once. Hamlet was on a few days ago, a RSC production, but this was not filmed live, just same stage cast. And yes. Dekalog, always. Ghost stories are traditional in British isles in winter.
