Cheap living in Krakow

Hi there,

I have been looking on the internet after some cheap rooms/appartments in Krakow, but the prices seem to vary a lot. Once and for all: how much does it cost to rent a room or apartment in Krakow? I demand nothing honestly, just some furnitures, relativiely central location, but the standard I don't care about. I'm not a Polish speaker and I understand that can make the whole thing more difficult. And how about the food? Can you cope living on maybe 300-400 euro per month, food and accommondation included?

I think that prices vary on location, closer to centre is more expensive. I thinbk that it depends for how long you want ot stay? I think that apartments in the centre are usually rented for long weekends, max weeks.

If you want to stay longer maybe rent something trough estate-agent?

Thank you for your quick answear. Well, I cannot say exactly how long I'm going to stay, but approximately a year or so. Is the best thing to rent through an estate-agent then? I know since my last stay (holiday) in Krakow that you can find adverts in Massolits bookshop? Maybe the rooms/apartments offered there are cheaper then the ones the estate-agents have to let?

I found website Krakow.gumtree.pl ( unfortunately Krakow is only in polish language ) and prices vary from 650zl-2000zl

I think that you should be ok for 400 euro ( if you rent relatively cheap flat) but can't be too lavish.

I heard you can live in a medieval house in Krakow centre (near the Jagellonian university )for just about 300E per month. Is there any truth to this ?

As long as you share the house with a few other colleagues - why not? :) Also, I wouldn't be so joyful about living in so old home -- especially in winter..
