What to bring, ship, pack for our move to Warsaw

Never had a curry in London. But Namaste is better than what's on offer in Bristol and Gloucestershire right now. It's even better than what I used to get in the Indian part of Southampton (although that was a few years back now).

Anyway, you think that Zywiec is the best of the mainstream Polish beers, so your tastebuds are highly suspect.

Apart from the owners of other restaurants who are jealous, yours is the only bad thing I have ever heard anybody say about Namaste. I eat their food a couple of times a week and have never ever had a bad meal from them. They aren't very friendly but I don't give a feck about that; as long as the food's good they can behave however!

Just got a review of Palestra (sp) from an Ameerican buddy of mine in Warsaw. He said it was the best pizza he's had in Poland. I've got to try it soon.

Scottie - You should see this little notebook I have started. I found a down moment at work quite a few days ago and have been scribbling little notes in it about Warsaw ever since. My own "lonely planet" from this website. I will add Palestra to my lists.

I've been doing the same thing for two years. My Polish friends keep telling me to write a book. I'm working on it.

I have arrived... and interesting enough my first full day here and all I am craving is Indian!!! Will have to see what luck we have tonight with dinner. Going to do my best not to have to cook tonight!!

Thanks everyone again for the help and support. Drove for a little bit out and about today and saw my son's school and did some shopping. While I don't want to jump the gun I can easily see why people come to love and stay here. It's beautiful and so far everyone has been very helpful. Got a little turned around in the airport (if that's even possible to do haha) and people came up and helped us right away.

Hello Shelley and all.
I recently met a beautiful man from Warsaw now living in USA, I actually was ignorant enough to ask him if there is pizza in Warsaw. He laughed.

The sad reality is that many Americans think of Eastern Europe in pre-WWII terms- very agricultural, poor, cabbage and potato eaters. This is the "old world" image we were given by our grandparents or even great grand[parents of their memories from the past. Of course, these memories are either aggrandized or coloured with sad memories from the war.

I am pleased to have found this forum to learn more about the country (and city) where my friend was born and raised.

We'll be in Warsaw for two winters! If need can I find decent winter clothing locally as well?

If you are tall or have big feet, good luck finding your size.
