Vinay,
May be you can start a new thread for your query (rather than making it india specific by posting here). That may generate response from people who are more knowledgable and aware in this regard.

That depends how much compensation your company is offering you :).
Living cost is ok here.

What should be salary equalant.

You mean how much a person getting 50k in india should expect here?
Your employer must be having a predefined policy for this.
Comparing the living cost it should be over 7000-8000PLN (atleast).

I have got you mail id from website. You have mentioned that you are staying in Wroclaw

If its for me, incorrect, I am staying in warshaw.

I am married having one kid (2 years). Just wanted to check ..How is the place?

Is it easy to settledown there. Also are there any indian staying ?

Its' difficult to answer and I think it varies from person to person.
There are a lot of India ppl here in warhaw (and I believe so will be be wroclaw). If should not be difficult to settle down though there may be language problems initially.

People here, in general, are good.

so when should be the ideal time to start searching and confirm a place

I am no expert, but may be you can start looking for a place atleast 2-3 weeks in advance (to be on the safer side).

You can search for apartments through internet. Generally the rates mentioned there are pretty high, but you can call them and discuss about your budget (as I did).

Just in case you face problem, send me a personal mail, I will pass on some contact information which you may find useful.

Welcome hemandara,

First problem is accomodation.I am looking for a fully furnished(Internet, stove, set kitchen , washing machines etc) apartment for myself.

You will be able to get apartment fullfuling all your requirements.

1) How much will it cost?

Currently I am paying ~2500PLN (local currency), but I realized only late that this is relatively high as per normal rents here (which is ~1500 PLN). May be because I occupied it for 3 months only.

2) Is it easily available near the centre of Warsaw(as my office is near the centre)

I am living close to centre (10 min walk) and I think you will be able to find one at a reasonable distance.

Law / Start IT business in Poland [17]

Actually I do know a lot of programmers and over 90% of them write soft for MS OS. Yeah, maybe they are cool haxorz uzing Linuxz, but what?

Must be true, I belive.
Luckily I am here with a company who has just one single machine with Windows :) (used for running some proprietry conference s/w). Each and every other task (except conference :) is done on machines running linux. I myself am using linux for the last 4 year and pretty satisfied.

These programmers are not hackers :), some of the best you can meet and working on products (yes linux based) which will revolutionize the market. (slight exaggeration only ;O)

Actually people are used to windows that anything else looks strange and imperfect which is not true.
Consider replacing a front line actor (read windows) from a long running television drama, however good the replacement (read linux) may be, ppl are bound to feel the transitions "shocks". (weird analogy :)

But indians are desperate to get out so they go to these "great" schools, since its there only ticket out of their country.

Your thinking is narrow-minded. Given a choice b/w a top university (anywhere in the world) and your local university which may be good but not comparable, wouldn't you choose the better one?

If you say no :), probably its more because you are not good enough to be a part of the best school.
lolz@only ticket out .

Indians in America are doing all kind of job depending on what they are good at. There are restaurant owner, cab drivers (for which you don't need to be in a great school, I don't know about canada :)) and they are in top managment, engineering positions as well.

HOwever, some of these indians appear to be into IT - not surprising, since our idiotic leaders outsource these kinds of jobs (taking advantage of cheap labour)

This is lame :). All I can say is India's economy is booming and IT has a major role to play in it. Thanks a lot for electing your so call "idiotic leaders" as they have a role (however small) to play in India's booming economy.

I am looking for someone who can help me with Jewellery.

May be going out and exploring the market yourself will be a better choice. I don't know about jewellery but people here definitely seem to be interested in wood-craft :).

I am also frm india and want to come on study visa. Is there is a scope of IT in Poland.
If yes which university is the best for IT
Plz reply..
Sandeep

I am in IT and currently in poland on a short official trip. I must admit guys I have met here in office ranks among the best s/w professionals I have seen in my career.

I think Warshaw is a decent university, but you can easily find similar ranking universities in India (though competition may be a lot more). As for the scope of IT, it is growing, but again it looks more like a service industry with work flowing in from US or other european countries.

Travel / Best place to obtain Zloty [6]

I have used one ATM at international Airport Warshaw.
Normally I will take out Euros using my WMC card from that ATM. I get those Euros converted to zloty from Kantors inside the city.

Travel / Warsaw, Poland - hotel recommendations? [30]

I think its too late too put a comment here :), but for information Polonia just seem's to charge insanely high prices for internet. Though I must say they have excellent rooms and breakfast.

Another I would suggest is Zgoda Apartments (stayed there for a week) . Its better than most of the hotels.
