Law / Start IT business in Poland [17]

I realise that demand for MS products isnt quite as high as for the open source stuff for the obvious reason......COST!!

That said MS have now opened a centre of operations in Poland and i daresay MS and its marketing machine will manage to make some headway. Personally as a consultant i would look to implement IT solutions from the ground up, Mail, File, Print, Security, Mobile etc etc. This would typically be for small to medium enterprise but i do have on my CV some of the major government and financial organisations here in the UK.

Law / Start IT business in Poland [17]

I know this has been covered in an earlier post but the information in that post wasnt exactly what i wanted.

I am a highly experienced IT Consultant and have been working for myself as an IT Contractor for some time now. I would like to start an IT business in Warsaw catering for the small to medium enterprise, primarily supporting the Microsoft product platform.

I realise there will be a degree of market research required but some of the more rudimentary questions are:

Is there room in the market for another IT Solutions Provider??

Would my lack of Polish be a hindrance?? (I do intend to employ one engineer to begin with)

Thanks.

UK, Ireland / British throwing food to trashes... [26]

I am afraid it works both ways, my mother tried to bring English food over here and was stopped at Warsaw and was confiscated at customs; it was only English mustard and Bisto gravy, but she was explained to that it was under the list of Polish banned foods that was not allowed into Poland.. God knows why???

Bizarre.....I transport food backwards and forwards regularly. I have never been stopped. In fact the last time i have about 4 Kielbasa in my hand luggage....Put them in the overhead locker and by about 40 minutes into the flight the whole plane smelled of lovely kielbasa.

:o)

Love / 5 months with my polish girlfriend now she's pregnant ! [21]

JayBee

My girlfriend is pregnant (6 months) and has faced exactly the same worries/concerns. I am English so i guess she has a slight advantage in that i have been with her to every visit to the Hospital and Midwife. However, i work away a lot as i am an IT contractor and naturally her concern is i will be away when she goes into Labour.

Right now friend, her head will be all over the place. Hormones, mood swings, discomfort, restless. She wont know whether she is coming or going and besides the usual "Is my baby OK" and "How will i know how to look after him" worries you have the added worry of the language.

Sadly my Girls mother passed away this time last year and so as far as help goes and family support im all she's got.

All compound to make the whole experience a nerve wracking, roller coaster ride.

What can i say except be there for her, talk to her, allay any fears she may have. Phone the doctor, midwife, look up on the internet together, get the answers she needs and talk it through. I know it is easy to say but she has nothing to worry about.

If i can make one suggestion, we went over to Poland for a 4D scan. Man, it was amazing, i saw my sons profile before he is even born!!!!

Its costs £200 here in the UK. It cost us 200 zl in Warsaw.

Anyway, Take Good Care of her and I wish you all the Luck in the world.
