News / Poland to join the Schengen zone the beginning of next year [36]

If you are a foreigner and has entered with a Schengen Visa then I think there is no border at all when you cross from Germany into Poland by train or bus and the stamp on passport would have happenned in Germany; But say I enter Poland through Paris by flight, I dont go through Passport control in Paris airport but in Poland airport, as of now; Possibly by Mar 2008, I would get the stamp on passport in Paris airport and no checking at all in Poland airport;

Please elaborate if someone has more information

Life / The price of infant milk powder NaN in Poland? [12]

Can someone tell me the price of the infant milk powder NaN (Stage 2) in Poland? Also let me know if it is available.

I travel every 2 months to Poland with my infant son and back and usually bring sufficient quantity with me. Just trying to find if NaN is available and if yes at what price. I am currently out of Poland and would travel in another 10 days to Poland.

Thanks in advance

Life / Baby Trolley in Warsaw [4]

Maybe someone from Warsaw could help; I am coming Warsaw and have a plan to buy a baby-trolley; I am not sure where can I expect to find a big range on display and also value for money; I have Carrefour in mind, but am not aware if I should look elsewhere too.

Thanks in advance;

Life / How to get Sky/other english channels visible from Poland? [15]

Thread attached on merging:
Television

What would be the cost involved in getting a TV with some english channels like CNN, BBC or CNBC; Can the TV work with just antenna in Poland or a set-top box is needed? How expensive would it be to get just some basic english channels. I am at Gniew.

Thanks.

Life / Driving in Poland after Schengen Status [3]

There is no separate test conducted to issue an IDP; It is nothing but a translation to international format and in English so it can be used abroad; In Schengen States, I still had my insurance working, if purchased; So, it is perfectly safe to drive with indian license in such european countires; I know even in Quebec State and in Toronto, I am allowed to drive for 6 months with no need for IDP;

I was interested to know whather I need an IDP in January when Poland is a Schengen state; You know, there is some bureacracy and time taken to get IDP in India; That is my problem;

Life / Driving in Poland after Schengen Status [3]

I am an Indian and has an Indian government issued Driving License; I think, for now, I cannot drive in Poland and need an IDP; But once Poland joins Schengen by Dec 21 or so, will the driving rules become similar to Schengen states? I have driven in France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Italy with my Indian Driving license;

Am not sure Poland will have the same driving restrictions even after becoming Schengen;

Anyone has any idea of this? Or will

Life / Arriving Gniew - Few Questions [5]

I have been assigned to be in Gniew for about 6 months; I have read Gniew is too small a town/village; Am not sure living there is a good option as it may not have enough restaurants, supermarkets etc (I will have to eat outside all the times); How are the medical facilities? Is there any town that is close to Gniew that has more amenities? Hopefully some town closeby from where I can drive down to Gniew would be a nice idea, I guess.

Please help me sweeten my stay. Thanks in advance.
