Food / Christmas Dinner in Poland [33]

Our Polish Christmas traditions is the Americanized version thanks to my Father and Grandfather.

We still begin with the Oplatki
We changed the soup from mushroom to Potato (nobody but me eats mushrooms)
We eliminated the carp and added Kielbasa. (We all know it isn't meatless this way, but it sure does taste better!)
We eat right not long after sundown at about 5-6 pm.
We still have cheese and kraut pierogis.
We have cottage cheese, and fresh placek.
After our meal is when we exchange presents and then enjoy our wine or champagne.
We changed the non alcoholic version of Christmas as well.
We still have lit candles and one in the front window along with the extra place setting on the table.

Food / Help in finding a recipe for a type of Polish Cheesecake [6]

My grandmother always made cheesecake for our Christmas dinner. She would use farmers cheese. I believe that all of the ingredients were mixed together and the crust formed in the pan on its own. I know that there was grated lemon rind as well.

It is similar to the recipes that I've seen for sernik, but the crust was more like a cake and not a crust, and the cheese was smoother. She did not put potatoes in the recipe.

Please help, she did not write this one down and it went to her grave with her. My sister and I are left to try other recipes and cannot find one that is the same.

Thank you to anyone that can help us out.
