News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

oh don't cop out so easily! Still why aren't Team America in the helmand province..?
Do your politicians not want to be seen as supporting the war on terror? or don't they want America to be seen as hiding behind the backs of other countries?

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

Your public has been extremely critical of the whole thing since the onset.

And they were right, was it the french, brittish who pulled out of invading Iraq in the first gulf war?
We left cos the job seems to have been done, not our fault the Yanks still have a battle on their hands.

It seems though, that that Polish engineer ended up on the 'front-line'.

The sad fact is that it could have been any nationality. And soon we will hear of another sad case of someone being kidnapped and killed. Just because he is Polish, doesn't mean anything different.

I for one would, stay out of the way? It's seems like the Brit's are the only ones who are at the "frontline" of the war against terror.

You might find that one problem will be his education. Generally the SAS pick seasoned sodiers, which he might not get if he has higher education from university:/ I was told bluntly that i wasn't allowed to choose the RTR (tank regiment), said it was a waste of brains.

Life / Car Window Tinting - is it legal in Poland? [20]

The Police pulled one of our limo's over once and asked for us to take the tinting off, no sense what so ever by them, as when it was imported from the states they checked the car for everything, including the windows. :/

Language / Rok vs. Lat [30]

Is it a bit like the "for" and "since" thing?

Or a bit like lat means period of a year, where as if u use rok, it means a year from this time, i.e ; i've lived here for 1 rok, meaning jan 2008??

This does confuse me :/

Love / Are Polish women "PRUDE"?!? [24]

I disagree, Cardno. There is very little PDA unless drink is involved. They tend to be more conservative and far less flamboyant than, say, Italians and Spaniards.

I'm with Cardno on this. Krakow is a student city filled with young rampant girls and guys. But i think it is more outside than in, cos generally the polish couples i know and asked this same question to said it wasn't something they could do in front of their families. So i guess they've been forced outside.

A walk around Krakow planty is enough to make anyone physically sick some days. I think Polish guys tend to be overly clingy with their girls, always wanting kisses and hugs.

This ain't a city to be in after you have just broken up with someone:/

Work / Staying in Poland after Work Permit Expires [7]

My flat mate stayed here for two years, well past when his visa expired, he had no problems flying back after it. Plus you don't even need to leave the country, just tell them you did:)

I think the same goes for me with Scotland, though now i have final interview with the FFL, so future is bright.

One thing i'll say for Ireland, or Ulster as some will see it, Belfast is one of the most beautiful cities i've ever visited.

Travel / 100 things to do in Krakow for free [11]

visit every church and list them alphabetically :)

That would take my time up, though i intend to visit most of them :)

Visit all the mounds (Kościuszki, Krak, Piłsudskiego, Wanda)

I had same idea, like trying to bag them all in one day. I live next to Krak, so ill have it done in no time. Great suggestion!

Travel / 100 things to do in Krakow for free [11]

Ok, so here's the story.
I've been in Krakow for many years now, and although i love the place, i'm thinking of a change of scenery. I'm a drifter you see.

So before i leave Krakow, I'm looking to make a list of 100 things to do and see in and around Krakow (not to far away) which can be done for free, and then i intend to do them all, so atleast i can say i've seen and done everything in good old Krakow:)

So for all those ex Krakowians and expats in the city, give me your idea's:)

Law / Polish tradesmen: Be careful... some may cheat you.. [37]

The only way you get anything done to the way you like it, is to show them who is boss. I agree with SeanBM, go down and take the wood with you, i know u paid 1000pln for something worthless....so maybe soak it in petrol, then go down there and give them it back :D
