Travel / What are Your Best Poland Travel Tips? [64]

I'll make some quick points I can think of right away....

Depends where you going and where you staying but some points for non-Polish would be:

* If you don't know the language then buy a lonely-planet guide (Polish)
* Loney Planet books themselves are wonderful and would be good investment when traveling to any country.
* Check they you do/dont need vaccinations to Poland (like Hep A , Hep B) - some countries (not sure where you are from) are fussy (Australia is increadibly fussy and exact about immunizations/vaccinations) about traveling to Eastern European countries (among others).

* Try to make at least one friend there (its easy, we are friendly people) - it will make ur traveling a lot easier :-)

Life / Stereotyping in the Polish culture: Are Polish blondes really dumb? [130]

This is very very incorrect story about blonds.

In general the natural hair color of a Polish female is what you could call dark blond

Not true. Polish females have hair color (natural) from dark-blond, light-brown and darker. Im a brunette naturally. But in my life I have been a blond naturally too. As my hair changed colors over the years, from born with black - blond - and darker darker darker...

So first, most girls in Poland are dying hair blond and secondly, if brunettes go blond, all of sudden they are "dumb"... that in itself is dumb....

How many Dumb red-heads there are in the world, and brunettes... hair color, eye color and skin color have nothing to do with intelligence.

News / There is no Muslim in Poland [116]

Thanks and I know that not all Poles are racist got many Polish friends

I can understand what you are saying. In other ways I have faced certain parts of descrimination in my life as a child and even often now... and it hurts I know. But the best thing you can do it learn to see the ones who think like that, are the ones who probablly have been the bullies since child hood... and they are nothing but ignorant people who lack education of society, culture - and probably haven't traveled beyond their continent.

We are all the same, essentially, and it takes a small percentage of idiots and "bad" people (for lack of a better word) to really ruin the world for everyone who has done nothing bad at all... just try to believe that most of the world is good. :-)

Best of luck :)

News / There is no Muslim in Poland [116]

our children will make your race a bit darker

It is already happening - But personally... I think that is a good thing. Mixing in these days is probably the first key to world peace, because no one can really be "racist" then, though I think you will always find a small percentage of morons that will have a big mouth and find anything to be discriminating against.... But also being mixed... makes us little more interesting... and often mixed kids are always better looking, having the best features of both sides...

Dont think all Polish are racist... its not true, just ignore the idiots. And congratulations on your soon-marriage. I wish you all the happiness in your life :-)

Life / Polish Kids - Polish speaking? Bilingual? only English? [56]

it is not something that happens to all kids. I have grown up everywhere (literally - moving around all the time). I found sometimes I was accepted, sometimes I was teased for having different accent or i said something in english which didn't sound to them how it should - whatever... it wasnt big deal to me. but my niece who is 11 years old is teased at her school, so at the moment my sister has much difficult time to keep her speaking Polish. They're living in australia. It doesn't help that her brothers also are "weird" towards speaking Polish, it is influencing her to make fun of the family who dont speak English like she does - but yet she doent want to speak a word in Polish. She understands but will reply in English only.

Life / Polish Kids - Polish speaking? Bilingual? only English? [56]

Well from what I see, at least in a small percentage of my family the kids are kept stricktly to speak only Polish at home and to attended a Polish school wherever they live. But I also have members of my family who are in Australia which their kids are half Polish half Anglo, and either the fathers (are stupid) and oppose polish in the home because they don't understand - and as the kids are older now they also barely undertand except some basic words. So it depends on the parents and the discipline of what is kept inside the actual home, and also extra activities as polish school, polish friends etc. But sadly I don't think these day this discipline exist so stirctly and then yes, the children at school are teased for being different. This is when they tend to stop speaking Polish because they want to fit in. This is when the problem begins. Hope this helps for you.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

Be proud of your country...I am...

Thank you. I am proud of it too.

But what others see it different dimensions.

The people who are "well" in Poland - money wise - will not be complaining because it is a BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING and WONDERFUL place to be and then these people will never never leave it.

But the People who are "unwell" in Poland - money wise - will complain. Because, depending obviously on circumstances, but jobs are not so easy to get, and some things can seem overly expensive for these types of families.

Then the poorer families go to places like U.K, USA, Australia, Canada, etc - whatever, they tend to find they word less for more $$$. And so are thrilled by this, the country can even be a less beautiful and less amazing place, but they are feeling moer stable in their income therefore wish Poland to be like U.K, etc.

On other hand some of the richer families are of Polonia families moving back to Poland after some time/long time. Lots of these people were not born in Poland. So the knowledge they learn from other country, plus their traditional knowledge combined come as an advantage over some things (Sometimes it is a curse, as some people think they're so much better than everyone else if they are "not Polish" like the Polish - which is bit sad and silly).

The families from Polonia is Poland settle in Poland. And often open up new style businesses that Poland is being constantly introduced to new things - therefore once again able to make more money. (But this concept of "new style" also is possible for the ones who go overseas from Poland and return after even 2-5 years).

I think this is summary of why some Polish people complain about Poland and why others couldn't find a better place in the world.

they word less

** They work less** - for more $$

Love / How can a black man get a Polish women [248]

Who exactly are you talking to? Don't assume that every poster is Polish here.

True - not everyone here is Polish or purely Polish but also - what is wrong with Being Polish, there is nothing wrong with being from anywhere in the world! Everyone has something to offer..... EVERYONE! :-)

It think there is nothing wrong in wating to date a particular nationality, maybe they are attracted to their culture, mannerism or their physical traits. Every one has their type and whats wrong with that ?

Exactly!

well if its going to be perfect its boring, a good book needs a bit of tragedy, controversy, romance and a bit of suspense, so 'my perfect life' would probably be boring and predictable.

I don't think so - that is I dont think a perfect life is boring, because it depends on what you believe is perfect. A story of tragedy, controversy and/or romancem suspense may be too much for some people to handle. Everyone needs everyone, and everything is needed. :-)

My boyfriend is Polish and he is the most gorgeous person I have ever met.

I'm very happy for you :-)

Love / How can a black man get a Polish women [248]

absolute Slavish Mentality

Slavish mentality doesnt exist in its purest form these days. People in Poland are more than just Slavic of ethnicity these days... meaning also mixtures of mentality... what you are thinking of is somewhat related to "white" mentality - but thats not entirely correct to say this because "White" is a narrow form of indication of thoes who are fairer skinned peoples - which can very easily include people from central asia, middle-east.

Truth hurts as it does hurt to know the truth.

And the truth is not one mentality exists within poland - you have culture-based mentaility and sub-culture, modern-culture, oldies think different to new generations - most of the time, also depening on the sub-culture an individual identifies with.

Point being point - can't put a large group of people into a corner and say they're all alike like clones.

Why should there be equal opportunities policies if the so called "civilised" societies should know to treat everybody as an equal and shouldn't be having laws set down to impress on themselves the reason why they should do so?

There should always be equal opportunities - but I just wish that most people saw the world that way because outside of the lucky people's bubbles of a life, the world can still be a very unevolved place :-(

Ok.... so that is my opinion....

Love / How can a black man get a Polish women [248]

Are polish women like normal women in America or totally different in terms of mentality on how they see life in general

I think we are very different than american women. Although recent years western culture has had some influence on the changing sub-cultures of polish society today... we are still keeping our traditions quite stongly and our mentality is different.

Of course - this is generalization... because there is many different individuals and everyone is slightly different. Some can be fanatics about being "Slavic" as a general - some are fanatic about what it means to be Polish and others want to be influenced by western culture and forget about their roots....

So you'd have find out for yourself, but my general opinion is that we are different than american women in many ways including mentality.

Good luck :-)

common “Polish girl” mentality

Czesc Janusz...

I think there is an element of it... I never noticed it before... but now when I travelled and lived in few different countries I can say there is something that links us together in mentality...
