News / Tornado hits Poland [39]

Not at all, they are very rare.
Or maybe I should say: they used to be? 10 years ago there was absolutely none of them, but now they do appear from time to time.

This is not true, I come from a village near Czestochowa and I remember a tornado which took place 15 years ago when I was a kid. It took off few roofs but noone was hurt as far as I remember. I heard someone saying on TV that the Polish think tornadoes is sth new in Poland because 15-20 years ago we didnt have so many TV stations that would broadcast it or people sending pictures taken with their mobile phones and so on. I think it's true. Maybe the difference is that now they happen more often...

Love / i love you -why say it if you dont mean it [56]

This is a very interesting subject and kind of backs up my statement that "Everybody lies" a lot of people and i mean a lot just say of handedly 'I love you' again and again and again to a girl/guy they have been with for about three weeks because the sex was good or something :)

It's such a throw away comment and the word love has been degraded to a certain extent. What i mean is the word does not have the effect it used to.

I don't think it's cynical, I think it's true. If you use "I love you" in situations where this shouldn't be really said, the whole expression starts to mean nothing special.

Love / i love you -why say it if you dont mean it [56]

It is cruel but I'm not sure if it is easier to say for a man than a woman when they don't mean it.

so when a polish guy says i love you he really means it?

That would be too easy ;)

Then anyone would be crazy about Polish guys!

Love / What do men want with Polish Girls huh??? [72]

Might I ask? Are the various stereotypes, due to your culture, still true of Polish women:
They ARE, on average, more intelligent than the men? (these days)
Tend to be fairly well mannered and polite?
Appreciate a gentleman being a gentleman?
Cook very well ?:) (not that i would expect you to)
Bit wary of this one but - Are fairly beautiful compared to the world? (though bare in mind I find kindness in someones soul seems to make said person shine out beauty)
Are so very very loyal to their partner?
Are very family orientated focussing on he childs development?
Are firmly set on Traditions?

I couldn't read this whole post without writing sth. I've never heard such a load of stereotypes in a long time. And you really seem to believe in them. I'm a Polish woman and know a lot of Polish women and can assure you there is very few of them who would completely fit in characteristics you set out above.

First of all I do not think Polish women are on average more intelligent than men, I met a lot of intelligent Polish guys and don't think you can say in any country that men or women are more intelligent.

Well manners is something you're taught by your parents and it does not really matter if your parents are Polish, French, Irish or American.

I think most women prefer a gentleman than a guy with no manners, that does not really depend on whether you're born in Poland or Western Europe.

As for cooking - among my close friends I know a girl who is a very good cook and girls who don't really care about cooking at all. In fairness, I'm a poor cook ;)

And about beauty - you can find attractive women in every country, there is no "special land" inhabited by "only beauties".

As for honesty and loyalty to others - I don't even know what to say, from my own experience it is more about WHO you are NOT WHERE you are from.

And what the heck does "a family orientated woman" mean????

I don't get it...

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

I don't honestly think that Polish people hate Russians and Russians Poles. It is mainly a problem of politicians in both countries who look too much in the past. Putin misses the position of Russia from times of Soviet Union and Polish politicians behave as the Second World war happened yesterday.

I do like Russians, I've been to Russia few times, think it's an incredible country with very complicated history.

UK, Ireland / Are Polish girls replacing Irish girls? [41]

It all depends, I would not generalise about Irish/Polish girls so much, people are the same everywhere, you get all sorts wherever you go.

I have been in Dublin for a year already and saw Irish girls with no manners, completely drunk and looking discusting on Sat night but I also work with many Irish women and all of them are nice with excellent manners. So I do not know really...

There are differences in behaviour though, funnily enough I did not expect some Irish people (girls/boys) to be prude, that actually surprised me as in Poland you get an impression that everyone behind German border is soooo relaxed about sex.
