News / Polish people reactions towards the last elections in Poland [59]

As far as drugs are concentrate, I don't see many countries follow the Dutch on this issue. While Dutch young bother with such 'important' things, Muslims don't.

here we go again...what other countries follow the Dutch example? Italy is yet another country that recently said that busting people for marijuana is counterproductive, now you can smoke much more freely while gawking at nude marble statues of boys. And Muslims don't bother with hashish? You have obviously never been to Morocco...

Because I don't see anything smart in such anarchy. The Dutch have no higher values and that is why actually they are being overrun by Muslim emigration which have their own ethic and is not willing to abandon it

If you have ever been to holland (apart from Amsterdam which is indeed kind of a lovable sewer) then u would know that it is an orderly place, not "anarchy." That they happened to let in too many muslims for their own good is a whiole other story, but a little hash never hurt anyone-that has already been proven by the medical research and toxicology professions..

Please note that I don't come to for example Netherlands to fight everything what I disagree what they are doing over there.

why would you disagree with anything they do there? they get to smoke hash in church while we get our wrists slapped like little children for any little thing we do wrong...kudos to the Dutch, the only people on the face of the Earth to figure out what living in a free country really means

My fiancee agrees and we will be out of this place as soon as we can arrange it :)

I second the motion that you pack up, grab your lame fiancee by the wrist, and get your sorryass to the airport, go back to the states where you wont be missed hahaha

In 2010 there's going to be some pan-European homo "parade" in Warsaw with millions of faggots.

sounds like it will be a fun day for people-watching

Kill'em.

why? just because they prefer different orfices?

Work / For all English teachers in Poland (who work for only $1000 a month) [102]

Why do I have a problem believing this ?

it's true-this income is POSSIBLE but you have to hussle for it. This generally means having two or three places of employment, plus the occasional translating or private teaching gig. Generally, however (because the workload of a typical teacher changes from month to month) you average about 3000-4000 after taxes if you work more or less full time, and your earning potential drops significantly during summer, when many English schools pay less per hour. Note: these are earnings in Warsaw, in other cities it may be a bit less.

Most natives are not worth half that!

ha! that's another story!..but many of the crappy ones don't last long...

Law / Interested in a starting a night club bar in poland [14]

Is there anyone who can advise or who wishes to start up a bar nightclub in poland

interesting idea, but are you interested in a pub or a bar? If you are looking at Warsaw PM me and maybe I can give you advice about locations, neighborhoods, etc...anyway you should cruise the Warsaw nightclubs and pubs and get as feel for the "competition" and remember that pubs are always less hassle than clubs...

i have seen these types of grills quite often, people in Poland most often use them for making toasted sandwiches, the best of which come dripping with goooey cheese.

News / Weak US dollar in Poland and other countries... [180]

but they still live with their parents or grand parents as they cannot afford a decent house.

yes flats are expensive but no one escept the super rich buys them outright, you have to get a mortgage, so many of us have a choice: live with the rents until they die or go to the bank and get a loan. not everyone can get loans but genertally if you have a full time job you can get something, no offense but your tale of woe is unconvincing, life isnt so bad in PolaND. there are pros and cons but there are even things here that are much better than the USA.

News / Weak US dollar in Poland and other countries... [180]

frustration of Poles in Poland

i am frustrated because I cant find a decent place to go skiing in Slovakia this winter, but thats about it

Frustration - when I go to Poland and have brand clothes, laptop, and other "expensive goods" it feels like people in Poland consider me to be rich when in fact it's something normal here.

you must come from some poor village in the hills. most of my friends here in Poland have computers, laptops, fancy cellphones, some of us even have nice cars. what parallel universe are you living in? have you really been to Poland lately?

News / Weak US dollar in Poland and other countries... [180]

Americans still can afford a new car every 5 years, new computers (PC and laptop) every 2 year, changing oil every 3000 miles

nothing lasts for ever. Just watch, if the dollar does continue to go bust the US will have to do something drastic, there is a very real possibility that WWIII is just around the corner...

UK, Ireland / Born in Poland, Lived in US Whole life, want to move to UK. Taxes? [3]

What is the procedure?

you need to fill out the necessary forms (available online from the Polish consulate in the US) and send them along with a fee, some passport photos of yourself, and your birth certificate (original), then just wait a few months for your passport to come in the mail.

In theory you are supposed to report your income to the IRS but once you start working abroad using the id of a foregin country (ie Poland) you are more or less "off radar," besides unless you are making serious cash I doubt the IRS would be interested in you

by the way your PESEL may come in handy so once you have a passport you will need a personal id card (dowód osobisty), but to get that you will need a permanent address in Poland. this is more or less how it works in chronological order:

1. Get your Polish passport
2. Go to Poland and get a relative to allow you to register as a resident at their place of residence (they will have to help you with the forms, sighn papers, etc)

3. Use this info to fill out a request for PESEL number
4. use the PESEL number to get a personal id (more paperwork)
Then once step 4 is completed, you should register OUT of your relatives place and go to England...technically you can be in England while most of this is taking place, you will have to periodically go back to sign forms, pick up ids, etc.

Good luck, this takes patience and the whole process should take about 6 months give or take a few months..

Life / Queuing and Polish people [49]

Yes that is a classic manoeuvre, I’ve even seen it happen in the post office where they use the take-a-number system.

yes but when you see that behavior, a throwback to commie days maybe, you have to nip it in the bud and rebel. I used to just stare in astonishment and shake my head in disgust but after seeing it so many times I have started to do my civic duty and yell at them even if they are old ladies (they are usuaslly the worst offenders) - sometimes a nice "Hey lady we're waiting too" is what's called for, and when they look at you with that sh*tty accusing stare you just have to counter back "I've just got a quick question too, but I'm waiting in line to ask it, and so should you"

Life / Queuing and Polish people [49]

Generally people here have no shame when it comes to queue jumping, ususally it is the old people who are the worst, but it the young do it to. but it seems to be getting better with time...my favourite is at the pharmacy, when some shameless old toad meekly sticks her head into the window just after saying "excuse me folks, just one quick question..." then she just slides in and wastes half an hour of everyone's life.

the only true hope for Poland in this sphere is the take-a-number system which fortunately are being introduced in most post offices and many shops...
