Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

People are saying that public cover is inadequate, you may need private cover!

If you don't have private cover in Poland and are very sick, its better to just wait outside a funeral parlour and be done with it, you will not get good medical treatment if you are very sick without private cover.

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

Thats the golden question?,, is it paid as part of your taxes or do you pay separately, do you need private cover and what is the cost?

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

Thats a total of 1400 zl a month. So for 2,500 zl a month you should be more that ok

I can accept your calculations, but you must be living like a church mouse, what about medical insurance?

Law / Poland - a more and more Investable Country [41]

I'm just annoyed people are so constantly negative and individuals are put down for trying to do something with their miserable existences (like me).

You are forgiven, no one is complaining about people returning with there polish partners to start a new life in Poland, not an issue, its the multi nationals seeing Poland as an easy target to make money, short term gain which ends up being long term pain for Poland. There is a lot of institutions and private companies ready to snap up a cheap bargain in Poland and once that occurs its allegiance is not to Poland but to its shareholders.

Work / Salary indication job in Poland [44]

i have a number of freinds working for large multinationals in warszawa and krakow... they command salaries not far off what i would expect them to earn in the UK... which is a lot of money in poland....

People who are seconded to work in Poland from another country earn what they would have earned in there own country plus the usually bonuses and allowance associated with working overseas. ie housing allowance, travel etc..

I would remind you BubbaWoo that I heard on polish radio that doctors and specialist were asking for a pay increase to equal 5000zl a month for doctors and 7000zl for specialist... say no more! keep in mind that the average wage in Poland is 2500zl a

month...(don't forget the tax)

The best advice I can give to any young person in Poland starting off is to learn a trade and be a skilled trades person, you will be the next generation of Polish rich. We have all heard of stories of people with high educational qualifications ending up working as cleaners and in banks.

History / Katyn- forgiven and forgotten? [111]

I am curious- is this a widespread opinion amongst Poles- abroad and in Poland?
Any thoughts or opions?

There are a few memorial sites in oz, which honour those killed in Katyn. I think its time to move on and forgive but not forget.

Most countries have days to commemorate those killed in wars, and the spirit now is that of honoring the fallen as opposed to asking for revenge. And ensuring that this does not happen again.

I'm sure we won't get much sense out of the Russian governments, however I believe the Russian people are pretty decent and are sorry for these events.

Life / Polish people living in Poland, How do you see your future? [37]

I am interested in hearing from people born in Poland, who have not lived overseas, your view, concerns and dreams about your future? Are things getting better or worse?

Do you want to work in another country?

USA, Canada / American attitude towards Poland [89]

Lef you always got something to say don't ya? LOL

I think you got Lef out when the world changed.. lol

LEF...if you must know stands for Lovable
Easygoing
Funny
or so my friends tell me. So every time you call me lef thats what you are calling me!
hmmmm
You probably think I'm anti American, well not really, I don't like American foreign policy, nor its hand in every countries economics/take over of companies etc, but America is a really beautiful country. I've been to the USA once and I really liked it, I can understand why polish people in America are not returning to Poland on mass.

In some ways the USA is more beautiful than OZ, In many ways the USA are very similar, also Americans like to visit oz and visa versa.

USA, Canada / American attitude towards Poland [89]

Something I can say about my country is that we really like America and it's still the "Promised land"

I don't know who you have been talking to, but it seems you have been brainwashed by US propaganda, its time you found a program that makes your live in the real world.

Unfortunately if Americans where to live in the real world, perhaps they wouldn't cope, would it be a nation suffering a identity crisis, would mean a massive nervous breakdowns of America people or Mass Suicide, who knows, will other countries say" too bad too sad" hmmm I think so.

Life / Moving to PL - how much money needed for 6 months? [26]

People in the US are more honest than in Poland.

was that a slip? hmmmm, I know what you mean. We have a red book when it comes to car prices.
I just know in Poland if people see your from overseas the price goes up immediately.
Yeah some people immediately find fault with something they want to buy and try and get the price down.
I think manners demand that there is a asking price and its up to the owner to reduce the price if he wants a sale.

Travel / What attracts tourist to Poland? [54]

yeah mate... like a pizza is always a pizza... just that if you live in italy your standards are probably not the same as other... know what im saying...?

Don't want to disappoint but I've tried better pizza's in oz, than in italy, the best pizza's are the home made type.

I dont't know what you are getting at, America has excellent beaches, beaches in Poland are just beaches, sorry.

What has Poland interesting to offer?

Thanks for your input Matyasz, your speaking to the converted, over wise I wouldn't have travelled to Poland so many times.
The name of the exercise is to convince the unconverted and get people to visit Poland.
I don't want to be disrespectful but you speak like my uncle who has never left Poland.
The world is a big place with many attractions, not too many people are interested in spending there holidays visiting concentration camps and old buildings, there is a you have seen one you have seen them all mentality,

Most people want a stress free and cheap break, and I'm certain if things go up, very few people will visit Poland, they will opt for Czech/Romanian/ etc.

From my conversation with non poles, the greatest selling point is the cheapness of the place and the friendly people, good beaches is always a selling point, something poland has not got.

Life / What kind of toys are popular with children in Poland today [21]

Sorry, its not a question of affording it, but pure economics, the cost of items are more expensive to get repaired than the cost of a new item, lets not make out that every american is just loaded with money and doesn't know what do do with it.

Get off your horse and take a walk downtown, the slums, ghettos and its not all that rosy.
I must admit that some of these poor people in these slums are more worse off than there counterparts in Poland.

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

But history only concentrates on the white mans sins....why?

I take your point, but the white man came from a christian civilised society, or was it not?

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

I don't think America can be impressed by its record of racial tolerance, for a country that claims to be Christian and leaders who keep on saying God Bless, God Bless America, it is no model . That is why america is increasingly becoming a hated nation.

I'm sure many a white american regrets the day that the negros were kidnapped from other countries and used as slave labour. Justice sometimes has its revenge.

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]

I don't classify myself as a wimp when it comes to drinking but I couldn't compete with my polish friends.mmmm only advice for a novice is to eat plenty of fatty food when your drinking.

There is a little butcher shop in Sunshine, that my wife said has the best Polish meats and hams, she said it was like it was homemade 50 years ago, real taste.

You must have a old wife..lol
The strange thing about hams (unless there home made) whether there cheap or expensive they taste the same, I must say pork and chicken taste better in Poland.

My Uncle went out there on a government scheme in the 1960s - the government offered people from the UK a one way ticket to Oz for 10 pounds, I guess to try and up the population figures.

It was to fill the gaps in the workforce, keep in mind there was a white Australia policy in force at the time (that sounds racist..hmmm)

but i dont think i would go to say Zakapone, or the Polish seaside every year.

Zakapone would be a goer, huge potential, providing it was cheap. These places are good for a week or two only.

I know Glenroy, and the Vic Market Shops, the smallgoods are second to none, To be quite frank I haven't tasted anything better in Poland.

I don't think people would travel all the way to Poland for a vodka, you can buy most polish vodka's in oz. I agree vodka is much cheaper in Poland, (you have to be careful that it doesn't pickle your brains let alone your liver.

The question I'm asking, what things stand out and tourist find attractive, two that come to mind is the salt mine where you have a church cut from salt in..oh its near Krakow and the concentration camps, both command a lot of interest, but there places you only see once in a lifetime.

A lot of people from oz go to places like Bali, year in year out because its cheap, good beaches and lovely people, has Poland got something magnetic about it? Something to go back to, year in year out?

I love the polish music, you know the one sung by mazowsze and slask, that is Poland.

O'k, now we have wine, women, and song. Let the party begin.
