Being now a member of the EU brings not only the good (lot's of money and connections) but also the bad as in Poland has to allow foreign people to wander around in your land and look for work and even to settle where they want.
The moment Poland gets richer and more attractive they will come and invade like locusts.
Now it are Poles who invade England and other richer EU-countries, soon it will be Turks from Germany, Arabs from France or Pakis from GB who will run to Poland...and many will stay.
(Not to mention all the poor new EU-members whose people are now grasping the first chance of a better life and will pack their bag and wander to Poland)
There is NOTHING you can do against it because that is one of the many laws you subscribed you as you gained entry.
Every move from you to hinder that is a move against EU-law and they will kick you out...then....no money anymore!

Regardless how this butting of heads will end the EU reached a turning point forever.
The EU will change...it can't go on like this or the EU will fail and will be destroyed...she became to big to quick with to many members in to many different stages of social and economic development...to many different voices!
The EU will part..."two velocities"...you can read about this idea more and more in german papers.
The more developed countries which agree on common grounds will build a kind of new EU, whereas countries who need more time don't have to agree with anything and not all will have to be of the same opinion!
Economical ties will stay of course....
That's the only way the EU will survive....

The future will show how much immigration a country can stand....
PS: I don't know about GB but most immigrants to Germany are NOT highly skilled, good educated specialists but barely literate farmworkers or plumbers...Germany (and I guess the UK too) is thriving right now DESPITE them not because of them..
But of course maybe introducing the turkish Döner into german cuisine WAS a great cultural achievement and we can't do without anymore...

It's actual a discussion about the future about german society...but that discussion also happens in GB or in France and soon will come to Poland the more it opens up.
It's about the "Leitkultur" of the native people (Religion, customs, traditions, worldview, values) against the old lefty dream of multiculturalism (where all cultures and values are equal even if they are absolute foreign to the native majority...that means for example german society with values of equal rights for women has to accept and bow to muslimic value that wome are second class because that's their culture and we have to accept it as such)...

France, England, Sweden, Scotland (and some others) devastated Germany in this war.
Germany lost one third of her population....imagine every third dead...the country destroyed.
Do you think we should do the math and calculate how much people we would be today and how much votes we could demand?
Or what about the Napoleonic wars? Some millions of dead Germans too...

Therefore Germany would have now 300 Mill citizens and would be 4 times as big as the current Germany!

I somehow doubt that Poland will like that outcome but change we must! Congrats Poland, you made it clear to all that the EU has to split if she want's to function further.

Good idea...Germany tried that somewhere in the sixties...now they are here to stay.
Not to mention that such would be against all EU-laws...no chance to handling it that way!

We Germans think the Poles (as in the Kaczinsky's) do everything they did and do not because of real concerns but out of Germanophobia...that's their main motivator.
Had the presidency belonged to someone else...maybe british or whoever it would had gone flawlessly.
Right now the sympathy for everything polish is down in the cellar in Germany.
Even if this summit is long gone, regardless the outcome, scars will stay and that will show...

The rebuilding did the Germans all by themselves with much less monetary help as for example Great Britain or France got.
Oh and right now Poland got already more help from the EU (think Germany) than Germany ever got from the US.

Wait...for rebuilding you need actually people doing all the hard work at home not them wandering off to other countries...
You are right of course the EU is a means for Germany to clear up our european backyard and make sure the continent is ready to buy our goods...for that we need Europe stable and attractive (only confident people living in stable environments with money in their pockets will want to buy many products....german products)
So it's a win for all!
If your precious independence is more important to you than the real facts as in Germany the top dog / Poland not top dog...than you better accept the consequences and go out.
But when you instead prefer to get pumped full with money and support from the EU (Germany) then shut the f*ck up and go with the flow...you can't have it both ways...not as long you don't give as much as Germany does and becomes a top dog like she is.
