No, I have not done any selling or buying in Poland, but my father and slew of first cousins are active in the Polish real estate market. Unfortunately, all their advice seems to be "I should have waited" - mostly to sell, but lately to buy.

My personal theory is that men think about sex so often that they can't help themselves but to keep imagining sex even when they run accross homosexuals. That's why they get so freaked out by them! LOL

As far as equal treatment - Poland has ways to go.

But, I have to admit, I have some views against gays as well. For example, I think gay marriage should be legal but it should have a different name. Word 'marriage' should be reserved for a union between man and a woman. Can't help it...

So, what cities have established, sizable universities where students have difficulties renting flats? Just from reading this forum, I think I'll skip Warsaw (even though that's my town) and Krakow for now.

My aunt has an apartment in Kielce, that I just realized she constantly rents to students! Now I'll have something to talk about with her.

Any other cities you can suggest I could start researching already?

another stupid question: what are the cultural and economic differences between eastern and western Poland, if any? Few friends visited couple of months ago, and I don't know what were they trying to say. One lives in the west side, and even though he conceded that Germans were clean, focused and ambitious, there was something he was clearly unhappy (or maybe apologetic) about. I don't think it was the WWII bs, he is too young for that. I wish I paid attention. When I was in Poland I didn't pay attention to that stuff then either, I was a Warsaw snob. I don't want to insult anyone here, but I really want to know what the general differences are, if any.

the thing is, you got to get a place close to the water. Even with the prices dropping, you still got to go north of Fort Pierce, Space Coast is my spot. West coast does not get the fresh Atlanic breaze, makes it much harder to handle in the summer

Granted, it's still, as my sophisticated friends call it, a cultural black hole, but I say you can change anything except the weather. Puter helps.
