USA, Canada / Any Poles in Arizona? Polish food? [10]

blackrock
I've heard that there are 40,000 Polish people in Arizona and
most of them live in the Phoenix area.
There are some Polish delis and stores in Phoenix. We have many
friends in Phoenix who are from Poland.

USA, Canada / How to find a job in the USA [39]

You're wrong!
Construction jobs are no longer as available as they
used to be especially here in Arizona.

USA, Canada / Any Poles in Arizona? Polish food? [10]

Yes, it's a very nice small town but with NO JOBS available.
Hopefully, soon, we will be relocating back
to Phoenix where it's nice and warm.
Greetings from Snowfake,

News / How do people react when you tell them you are Polish? [71]

A Navajo Indian lady who worked at a post office in northeastern Arizona(close to the Navajo Indian Reservation) asked me if Poland was one of the UK countries. She was the postmaster at that particular post office. I'm not kidding.

One time someone said "you don't look Polish".
Another time someone said "you look Polish".

USA, Canada / My Polish husband is having trouble finding a sponsor for his green card [8]

If your husband would be stopped by police in Phoenix, AZ (Maricopa County) he could be deported. I hope you do not live in Maricopa County.

A lot of Mexicans have left Maricopa County and moved to other
counties in AZ or to other states maybe even to your town.
I live in AZ and that's why I know what's going on here.

USA, Canada / DO POL-AMS DIFFER FROM OTHER ETHNICS? [3]

I have contact with many Polish Americans who are searching for their Polish roots in Poland because I am a translator/genealogist. They are very proud of their heritage and see me as their link to Poland. Many of them have found their cousins in Poland and have visited them and write letters to them which I translate.

Most of them are Catholics and all have strong family values.
I have also translated letters, documents, etc. for Mormons, Jews & others who have roots in Poland. Most of my clients have also become my friends. We exchange letters, greetings, photos, etc.

None of them have said anything bad about Poland or the Polish people.
I don't think Polish Americans differ much from average Americans.
They are, afterall, all Americans, born in USA. I am talking about first, second
and third generation Polish Americans.
I have been translating/interpreting for over 20 years and everyone of them
have paid me ontime. No bounced checks :) Very honest people :)

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

You and me have a lot in common:
I was born and raised in Poland also and live now in USA and would rather be in
Poland but my Polish husband doesn't like Poland.
I was also adopted. Please write to me so we can share our experiences.
