Love / Age difference in our relationship. I'm 41, my girlfriend is 27. Common in Polska? [57]

Hi all I am new to this forum and would be interested in peoples views relating to a set of events which has happend to me of late.

Bascially I have entered in to a relationship with the polish girl who works in our local polish shop in leytonstone / london. What started of as a bit of a fling has now resulted in her asking for somthing more serious and a bit more committement. So much so that she now wants to take me back to polski land to meet maama and papa !!! The only issue is the age difference.

Her 27, a really nice girl, educated, switched on and the icing on the cake is she is very good looking.

Me 41, although told i pass for a lot younger. Ex miliary, decent job do lots of sports and am quite independant.

To be honest I am quite flattered to say the least. As she pretty much has the pick of the bunch. That includes loads from her social group who are more in line with her age.

Ive got my own mind and have decided to go for this. It would raise eyebrows here in the uk as there is a noticeble difference in the age. A couple of friends have worked in Poland. They say that age differences in relationships are more common over there and it would go un-noticed. I would be interested in peoples opinions on this forum.

ie Do you think the age gap is so large that at some point differences will occur and it will be difficult to keep things going ? and also is age gaps in relationships more common than here over in poland ? thanks Mark.

so don't ask people... you shouldn't care what others think as long as you love her...

if we say 'yes', are you gonna dump her?

stop being silly and go enjoy the time with your gf...

Is that why you were asking for posters opinions and views ? The Army is quite regimented and maybe your way of thinking needs to change a bit now :)

Follow your heart
Always :)
boumbam:
Go for it Marc boy
Absolutely :)

It was not the army it was the airforce which is completley different and I would say compared to corporate jobs i have had in the city ( london). My current job is more regimented . I was asking for posters opinions and views that is true. But not to act upon. Just out of interest.

To be honest from what I see here in London it is the other way away. The two cleaners where i currently work have recently left thier husbands for english guys. Two years ago when they both came over neither could speak english. They have changed beyond belief ( in confidence etc). I don't think the guys made much effort with learing the language. I think this to be half the problem.

Having been married for a good 20 years to an independent high flying Wester girl you can imagine how I crave for such great Eastern promise!!! Go for it Marc boy

They are sat all around me in Canary Wharf ( high flying western girls). All like somthing of a game show. It's not for me.

Oh that makes it alright then :0(

Not saying it makes it right. Just saying that it goes on........on both sides of the fences so to speak.
In this case the two ladies in question picked up the language very quickly, started socialising quite alot ( as now there was no language barrier) anf basically changed direction with there lives.

Yeah it goes on...personally I'm a believer that marriage is for life, not just for xmas ;0) or in this case when you find someone with better prospects!

......but life is a little bit more complicated than that. Take for example the two girls i mentioned ( i know them to say hello but not all thier personal circumstances).

It could be the case where they are moving on because they are of the belief that they have found somone with better material prospects. ( which in my opinion would be wrong). On the other hand they could be moving on becasue thier husbands are alcoholics, no job and sat in front of tv all day. ( in which case then they would be justified to look for somone else).

Love / If a guy was nice? [42]

If a guy was nice, said the right things at the right time, and treated her with respect........Is it then possible that a Polish women could ever consider dating a White man for a change? It's just you don't see it that often these days!

where do you live ?

Love / If a guy was nice? [42]

SzwedwPolsce:
Probably over 95% of Polish woman (at least in Poland) have a white husband/boyfriend or is dating a white guy.
Wow….that is a surprise because judging the way Polish women are behaving in the UK, you could be forgiven for thinking the opposite!

what part of the uk are you refering to ? You do see a few Polish girls with black guys where i live in Leytonstone East London. However it must be said it is not exactly North Norfolk and the majority of blokes are black.........well black or half cast.

where you live is same area as me ( E11). You don't see that many Polish girls with black guys. The ones that I know who do it's because they are flat mates and not in a relationship. However you could be mistaken for thinking they were as always in the shops or walking up the high road together.

No, I haven't noticed many. I do have a friend who is in a black/Polish relationship though.

Not that many SAFA,s around well not where i live which is Grove Green Road near the northcote. Was different a couple of years ago but the change in status / visa changed that, ( for the better!)

Love / Confused English man: is she stringing me along or is she confused? [62]

One year on and this situation is still going on. I returned from Poland last year and stopped phoning her so much. I was getting on with my life just fine. Then, a couple of months ago she invited me to go on holiday with her.

In these 4.5 years has the relationship reached the bedroom. ???

Another suggestion would be Ostrava as a bigger place but Cieszyn is the best bet I'd say.

So Cieszyn i should be able to find a dozen or so bars and maybe a club ? Or somthing like that !

Love / Polish People on Cheating? [39]

It's not a cultural thing. If both care about each other they will try hard to work out their relationship problem. If both are willing to forgive each other a very strong relationship can develop.
On the other hand some couples are staying together for the sake of their children and are tolerant towards each other until children are grown up or maybe even afterwards because of housing shortages in Poland. It's like an agreement between them and their marriage is an "open" marriage - if you know what I mean.

you say " if both are willing to forgive each other a strong relationshio can develop".
I'm sorry mate, if married and one cheats on the other then the line is crossed. Forgive, yes, forget no. The marriage is over and both have to move on, things will never be the same. Trust has gone = very little left. Sad but true. There is this over-romantisised idea that we/they can cuddle / talk and work things out...............but in reality .....it never goes away.

Love / Polish People on Cheating? [39]

There's a few guys in the office here who on a friday regulary go to the local " sauna bar" aka ********** before going home to wife and kids. This now has become a formality and on a friday at 3pm presides over everything else. In a dark humour sort of way I do find this amusing. I would not call myself old fashioned......but I couln't do this.

Very true, marriage is for a reason and it shouldn't be jeopardised by primitive lust. Yes, of course you can love another woman at the same time (the feeling I mean) but standing by your decision is vitally important.

moderator / editor ....why did you ******** out the word that rymes with " door mouse". please let people say it as it is ....not exactly offensive.

If the word you wrote was replaced with * when you posted then it was done automatically by the word filter not manually.
