UK, Ireland / Polish economy threatens UK [17]

Quoting: asiia
and when they come back to poland they spend the money in poland a not in the countries they have earned the money.

Do you have any stats showing how many people back to Poland? I'm not sure if there is so many of them...

In monetary terms I think its £4billion per year.

Again we have farmers Bu*****ing about something. The crops were picked before the Poles came here and its a problem because the farmers don't want to pay good wages. **** job for **** money. No thanks.

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

Except, as much as I love it, France is a very racist country. My French friends in the UK(and there are 400k French in the UK) insist that racism is very bad there. The 'Polish Plumber' is a vision of horror to the French.

The other thing that makes work difficult in France is the very regimented education to work system. You can only work in in the job you have been trained for, you can't expand you career into other areas. Its stiffiling.

French women dress nice, but in the south of France crime is a real problem that the Police cannot control they are scared of confronting the criminals in case they are accused of racism and start a riot.

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

I don't know the exact details, but I think the Poles were on the same side as the French during the Napoleonic wars!!

True. Most of Napoleons troops were Polish in the invasion of Russia, I believe.

There was an entire army fighting for the French in WW1, The Blue Army.

hallersarmy.com

There is a lot of connection between France and Poland. The French had 400 officers as advisors to Poland in the 1919-20 war against the Bolsheviks and quite a lot of arms were supplied by the French.

The reason for France's interest in Poland is their common neighbour...

Life / Jaywalking in Poland ? [38]

I had a group of girls over from Poland and they were shocked when people crossed roads whenever they felt like it. They also had difficulty remembering which way to look when crossing roads, which lead to some scary moments.

Life / Jaywalking in Poland ? [38]

I thought Jaywalking is illegal everywhere. In NY it is, but not really enforced.

Its not illegal in many countries. Jaywalking is an American word, there is no British equivalent.

News / EU or America - which country is better to work now? [56]

I guess it depends on what your looking for in life. I'ts really easy to start up a business here in the US....especially an IT solutions consulting business. Is there really all of this opportunity in the UK? It IS a rather small Island and I don't see many Poles going to other countries in the EU.

I've had a UK and US business and running a small business in the US is much more expensive and difficult than in the UK.

UK has some of the best IT people in the world, in the City.
Wages are good £5-600 per day, thats up to $300K

What policies must America change to become an attractive destination for Polish workers, as well as other Europeans in nations with emerging economies?

Move a few thousand miles closer. You can flight to London one way for less the price of the train ticket from the airport to central London (about £15).

Love / Why do you suppose the Polish guy I'm dating refuses to speak Polish? [22]

The Turkish and Finnish languages are related in some way.

Anyway, the most likely reason is that he isn't Polish. A Turk would say he's Finnish and a Russian would say he's Polish for the same reason - both are in the EU and he can work here legally.

Love / Why english men like polish women ? [126]

Apparently the DNA of the english today is about 95% celtic. The Scots are more like 97%

The Anglo Saxons mixed with the Celts and there were not very many of them. And the English are not very different from the Welsh and Scottish at all.

News / Poland's Growth Fastest in 10 Years [95]

The Polish economy is revving up. In the first quarter of this year, gross domestic product grew by a whopping 7.4 percent, the highest figure in a decade.

In 2006, the country's GDP grew by 6.1 percent. The first-quarter data shows that this year may see a similar rate of growth, making Poland one of Europe's fastest growing economies. Among European Union member states, only Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia and Romania are growing faster than Poland. But, unlike in most of these countries, Poland's growth has been exceptionally stable, with low inflation and a stable external deficit.

Until recently, Poland's economic growth was chiefly driven by exports, which grew at a rate that sometimes exceeded 20 percent annually. Poland's 2006 exports totaled 87 billion euros, increasing over 22 percent from a year earlier and marking the best result for the Polish economy ever. In the first two months of 2007, exports grew by 16.4 percent. The economy ministry estimates that throughout 2007 they will total 102.5 billion euros, growing by 17 percent over 2006.

Why do people like Zion, who don't understand mathematics or economics, feel they should make their opions felt in an economic discussion?
I always though that if you don't know what you are talking about its best to keep quiet.

UK, Ireland / Polish girl burned alive in Liverpool [201]

Peterweg, do you mean that ola's statement that the burning alive of the Polish girl in Liverpool is shame on the UK is idiotic? You mean that folks in UK shouldn't be ashamed of the crime

You shouldn't be ashamed of something you didn't do. Why shouldn't Poland be ashamed as well. How about Turkey? Japan? the entire planet?

Closer to home, obviously this girl should be blamed for getting involved with a psychopath.
Her family and friends should be ashamed that they did not stop her relationship with this man.

Ola and everyone else who applies collective blame, should be ashamed that they did nothing to help this girl.

^ Obviously this is bollocks.

Maybe its a throwback to the communist mindset, or maybe its just Ola's racist agenda. But don't make a connection between a murderer and an entire (very diverse) nation, after all you also condemn the million Poles who live here as they are part of the UK.

A type calling himself 'Proud2bNaija' lists the cases of alleged Polish offenders of Brits. He's main message seems to be: 'Poles abuse the Brits too, therefore the burning alive of the Polish girl in Liverpool is justified.'

No, thats you twisted interpretation of it. What is shows is 'People who live in glass houses should throw stones' . Or as Jesus said, 'let those of you who have no sin. throw the first stone'.

Immigrants come to the UK and commit crime, a lot more that British people do. Over the past two decades 90% of Policemen killed have been by non UK nationals.

**** happens, crimes happen. Don't use it to make racist attacks on another country, either direction.

UK, Ireland / Polish girl burned alive in Liverpool [201]

Have you heard about any english girl burnt alive by boyfriend?

Yes and worse.

And what does 'English' have to do with it anyway? if you are going to get racist, Clarke is an Irish name (Liverpool has a very high density of Irish people). Are you going to condem Ireland now, just for good measure?

UK, Ireland / Polish girl burned alive in Liverpool [201]

This forum is the most racist I'm a member of. Poles seem to be obsessed with race, not surprising since their contact with the outside word has been very limited for a long time.

But the British (don't refer to the English, its a nation of Irish, Scots, Welsh and English) have many waves of immigrants coming here spreading back centuries.

In rough order we've had Jews, Germans, French, Irish, Poles, Hungarian, Black Caribbean, Indian, Pakistani, South African, Australian, French, Swedish and now the Poles again.

The UK, as pointed out has a open door policy to refugee's and the politically repressed, so much so that neo-nazi American's refer to it as Londonistan. Everybody is welcome here.

In comparison, whats Polands tolerence levels like? A constant talk about Poland and its 'race', why are Polish men/Women better, why is Poland so F***ing perfect, etc. How much do we hate XXXX country. I've even heard a Pole say London is too cosmopolitan...wtf?

'Race' or Nationalism is history. Poland is now part of the EU, it will take time but nationalism will die out. Get used to it and shut up with the nationalistic ****.

and it will be but only if the Polish man stay in Poland

What, so that they be unemployed? Instead they are overseas sending back 4billion euro's a year and contributing 5% of Polands GDP. They account for a large part of Polands growth.

They you would know this because you are an economist (ha, ha, ha).

News / The legal definition of Vodka in EU - Poland not happy [16]

And you can make wine even from apples, and yet the countries from the so called "vodka belt" respected the plea from the countries from the so called "wine belt" and agreed to pass legislation that wine can be made only from grapes. It's a pity that the "wine" countries are not so keen to respect our traditions and heritage. :/

Wine tastes of what you make it from. Vodka has basically no taste at all, its a chemical produced from sugar. Remove the water and you can use it to drive a car or strip paint. The UK has been making grain alcohol for centuries as well (adding flavour and calling it Gin), so it as much a British tradition as anyone else's. Which is to say, nobody's.

UK, Ireland / Great Britain vs England, Ireland, Scottland, Wales [37]

Student loads are a disgrace and should never have been introduced. Its true that the English pay for Scotland, even with the Oil, Scotland benefits from the Union. But Britain is better as one nation, Scotlands contribution to engineering and politics (for instance) are part of what made Britain what it is - a very successful nation.

Really? Lets see.. defeated the Russian Army in 1920. 1939 fought the Germany army for longer than the combined British and French Army's did in 1940. And they were fighting the Soviets at the same time. They shot down a quarter of the German airforce.
