Love / Should I Be Nervous About Going to Poland? Black female dating a Pole. [158]

PurpleLeo, you seem to be a really nice person. It's understandable to write "ghetto", or abreviations, on a mobile, but when space isn't a premium it comes across as laziness. Take that as it's meant: positive criticism. Enjoy your life in Poland.

Sounds a bit like, maybe at school you were spanked by headmistress and grew to like it?

Life / So I had a get-together in Poland... [13]

You were lucky. What did you expect them to bring, a magnum of Chateau La Tour 1970? A lump of lard more like.

History / WARSAW 1939. BETWEEN THE WARS [14]

Some old lady from Warsaw told me that squares in prewar Warsaw weren't square but round (called rounds?). That would exclude the one in the old town I surmise.

Food / Polish Restaurant Prices [20]

If you're lucky enough to find a "Bar Mleczny" - a dying breed - that would have cost you, today, about zl1,70 (about 35p in English money).

Food / Polish Restaurant Prices [20]

If you calculate all that in, £6 seems like a winner in the UK.

This is the first time anyone has included their overall expenses for a meal. In this case a coffee for a Varsovian in Chicago, he'd have to remortgage his house.

Food / Polish Restaurant Prices [20]

[quote]szarlotka:Had Pierogi in Bar Polski (was Na Zdrowie) in Holborn in London last night. It was £7.00.

[quote]

I know the place well. Good Polish nosh but London prices. No Bar Mleczny there I'm afraid. It used to be run by a Polish woman (she used to give me free coffee for some reason beyond my ken) and an Aussie, but now it's gone Aussie/Greek when I was last there.
