Life / Warnings about Life in Poland [71]

It's like any city where you must be aware of dangers that are around you especially if you are alone as a woman.

But poles like to exaggerate much.

I visited a friend in Bydgoszcz a couple of times and i still remember the first time he said about dangers in Poland.

He lives near the city centre on a hill and you have to take a row of stairs down to get to to the main town square.

Some kids where sitting on the stairs talking and my friend said we must go fast down the stairs.

I asked why because i was still enjoying the view of the city and he just took of like some bird and flew of the stairs past the group kids and leaving me standing there.

I walked down normally while my friend was waiting below the stairs looking like why i didn't walked faster.

When i asked him why,He just said it's dangerous because of them and it was in broad daylight.

Language / Learning to speak Polish options. [17]

Hi,

I just got back from visiting Bydgoszcz, Poland and really enjoyed the people and culture.

This was mine 3rd time i visited Poland and the only problem i had was the language.

The friend i visited speaks dutch so i have no problems talking to him but his wife and children only speaks polish and it was difficult and also i met this girl who is a friend of the wife who i'm very intrested in and she also likes me too but speaks very little english.

I now want to learn Polish but i don't know if i should just buy a book or go to classes.

The classes are a year long and 1 day per week at night ,total of 60 hours and if you pass each year you could got the next stage.

a total of 360 hours if you complete the course.
They use a handbook for the first stage called Zaczynam mowic po polsku.

Does anyone know of this a good beginner's book? and can i speak a little polish after the first stage.

any suggestions welcome.

thanks

Travel / Visiting Bydgoszcz - things to do / places to see [10]

Thanks,

my friend said driving to warsaw was cheaper for 4 people but if the weather doesn't hold up we will take the train.
Will go to gdansk and torun for sure and maybe national park MYSLECINEK.
I'm going just to walk around Bydgoszcz and just downloaded some tourist trails from the official website of the city.

Travel from Warsaw to Bydgoszcz?

I'm from Dubai and this is the first time for me to visit Poland. I have been visited before more than 15 countries in Europe.

I have this question: How can I transfer from Warsaw Airport to Bydgoszcz city, I found flight but after 10 hours from the arrive time, so it is better to take train and not wait in the airport. So would you please inform me...

The train will take you about 4 hours. Its the best idea and it is easy to travel from the airport to Warsaw train station.
