History / Katyn- forgiven and forgotten? [111]

I have to admit that I look down my nose at Russians, but I think it is well deserved.

I don't do it. All in all if not their army we would be German servants or we would be exterminated. Milions were killed in 5 years of occupation by the Germans. Russians killed some people too but ... it wasn't about nation extermination..

History / Poland war propaganda poster - can anyone explain this picture? [292]

No I am sure about that. Your source is wrong. There were Nazi posters about Katyń but this one is Soviet and I am sure about that. I have this poster in my book. Sombedoy gave wrong description.

celinski

Your family has been on Syberia when Germans came. I am not form this part of Poland but it is mainstream knowledge.

History / Poland war propaganda poster - can anyone explain this picture? [292]

There is not German poster. It is form 1939 and Soviet invasion on Poland.

It reminds me of a you tube when Germany entered eastern Poland and the way that Nazi's were seen as coming to save the people. You bring up an interesting point.

Werent they Ukrainian...?

Catholic Poles were not first on the list but were on the list. Maybe if Poles weren't living on land Germans wanted ... German policy would be different like in Czech rep. or like in Slovakia but without posters you killed so many Poles ...

Poland has done very good choice by fighting against Hitlers Germany.

Bratwurst:

Hitler wanted aliance with Poland but he was unsuccesful. After all, it is very good that Poles have choosen allies. With Poland on your side you would win this war without problems but it wouldn't be good for Poland and for Germany.

Germans have done what they have done in Poland. Not only Jews were on Hitlers list but ethic Poles as well. Germans wanted to take Polish land and Poles on this land were problem.

Crimes commited on Poles by German army have been presented several times on this forum.

Don't re-write history.

News / Polish car designers [11]

It is ture but there are some new "true" Polish sport cars but it isn't production like in BMW or Ford. They are single models made by Poles in Polish companies.

There is new "Syrenka" project but it seems that global recesion is going to stop it. We need to wait.

Old Syrena

New Syrena (project) by mentioned before Tadeusz Jelec.

The most important is that we are able to make good cars, so who knows ?

History / Poland war propaganda poster - can anyone explain this picture? [292]

mhm, but what exacly are you talking about ?

"Gigant and filthy dwarf"

Communist Poster about "AK" - Home Army, in 1944 soldiers of home army were persecuted by Soviets.

All those who were able to fight for freedom were dangerous for system. People who fought gINAT Nazis were first to kill by Soviets because they were considered able to fight agains totalitarian systems.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Army

The Armia Krajowa (the Home Army, literally translated as the Country's Army), abbreviated "AK", was the dominant Polish resistance movement in World War II German-occupied Poland. It was formed in February 1942 from the Związek Walki Zbrojnej (Union for Armed Struggle) and over the next two years absorbed most other Polish underground forces. It was loyal to the Polish government in exile and constituted the armed wing of what became known as the "Polish Underground State". Estimates of its membership in 1944 range from 200,000 to 600,000, with the most common number being 400,000; that figure would make it not only the largest Polish underground resistance movement but among the two largest in Europe during World War II.

I don't understand you McCoy. We fought against Nazis and we were sold for Soviets after the war. Our Gold has been confiscated. Many people died in Soviet gulags. It is truth. Katyń happened. Sikorski has been murdered.

1) Poles go to Cassino.

2) Referes to Sikorski death (Next Katyń vicitme) (and his British murders)

In all posters there was some truth. Katyń was Soviet job. Sikorski has been murdered or by Soviets or by British ...

Only part of our national gold reserves came back to Poland after the war.

In Yalta we were sold it is fact.

If we were such great allies so it is time for British to give back our national gold reserves confiscated (stolen) after the war. We are not under communist rule and now it is time to send our gold back to Poland.

Gentelmens do so.

I can explain it. We didn't had support and after the war we were sold for Soviets British have confiscated (stolen) our national gold reserves (transported to UK throught Romania in 1939).

I answer if you ask but we should rememeber that we learn history.

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

Some Germans were assimilated some weren't. Some Jews were assimilated some weren't. In different regions we had different proportions. Generaly Germans settled by force in 19 century weren't assimilated and they were loyal to their country. Half of Poland was part of Germany ... Those settled before partions were mostly polonisated.

I don't care about Polish americans. If we talk about anti-Polish campaing. Polish Americans made anti Poznań campaing in their press (long time ago) and in Poznań "you" are not popular.
