Language / IS POLISH LANGUAGE'S VULGARALISATION MEDIA-DRIVEN? [23]

I believe that there is more profanity in films and on TV because the writers lack the ability to write an interesting script without it. Looking back at films and TV from a few decades ago, there was absolutely no need for profanity because the writers could write scripts without it.

Yep. Big films these days are actually horrifically bad, incomprehensible how people still get entertained, when batman is the number 1 film you know there is something a miss, utter crap.

Script writers should do more drugs.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

This guest is pulling your leg people, please, he/she's having a laugh. Either he/she's the most unintentionally funny chap to visite forum full of nonsense and shit or they're just mocking around. Everyone knows the more blacks in a country the worse the country gets, sigh! - a bad example of taking the micky.

News / Poland and Italy - similarities? [15]

The Italians are perhaps the most extrovert and expressive people in Europe, the nations are POLES apart on this one.

Life / Poland has killed my inner child [105]

I think you're justified in what you said. You seem to reflect many peoples sentiments of poland. It seems living there is hell but taking a holiday there is a better option as most claim its a great destination for a few weeks.

Life / Poland has killed my inner child [105]

Sounds like this guy has deeper frustrations and is venting them in the
most effective way possible, in a forum full of strangers. Of course there
would be a big cultural difference, polish people are quite different to us Britains.

Perhaps the signals of what poland would be like were your encounters of polish when in london. You're probably lonely, lack of interaction.
Give Wawa a chance, give these places a chance. Give it a proper go. If it doesnt work then at least you tried. Perhaps your indulging your hate to much and feeding it. I do this at times.

Life / Just cross the damn road...Is Poland strict about road crossing rules? [13]

I find generally in north Europe people are more, serious, orderly and introverted.
(remember I am saying this in very general terms but it is something of note in my opinion).

Careful now!
Im pretty sure our European neighbors can have ze gut time with thee rock and/or roll, getting down with ze dolly partons and ze likes!

But I'd have to agree with you there ted.

Life / Just cross the damn road...Is Poland strict about road crossing rules? [13]

Walking home last night, around 10 pm. A few poles ( I discovered this when I eventually reached as far as them) are standing at the traffic lights waiting to cross. At this crossing you could spot on coming cars from up to half a kilometer.

30 secs later I get as far as them and they are still standing there. The road is dead so I cross. I turn find them still standing there and only when the green man showed did they actually cross. Not a car in sight (k, maybe one or two). I have noticed this before, I almost feel like I'm taking my life in to my hands when crossing now.

Are they very strict about this in poland???

UK, Ireland / POLISH ADMIRATION FOR THE IRISH GENIUS JAMES JOYCE [63]

There's nothng really wrong with Ireland, it's just nothing special, that's all.

Then who are special?? What manifested you this idea that they were?? Where you naive enough to believe that a people could be special?? Where you sold an idea and felt as though you were robbed?? All the fingers point at you and you're notions.

In fact my Irish side of the family were so obnoxious that i had to change my name by deed poll, convert from catholicism to Anglicanism and join an Irish cavalry regiment in the British army before they finally took the hint and stopped contacting me with the begging bucket

You are a shambles.

UK, Ireland / POLES SUPERIOR TO BRITS? [260]

Poland became mediocre, like the rest of Europe

Yea, you're so right. If I was Polish I'd feel sick even being European or even sharing a boarder with those other silly nations. I always say, when i die i hope i come back as Polish, to get my nose that far up in the air in this lifetime would require some serious surgery im afraid.

Some Polish comments often remind me of how English brag about their history, like trying to soup up a fiat...

It will be interesting to see whether sausage-making may even reach any kind of level here

MMM!! Indeed Isoil! Very interesting!!! Do keep us all informed on how those british peasants try and fool us all with their "sausage" making!! I feel sorry for the poles having to put up with all those sausage making impostors here in Britain.... where they work.....because polands economy is crap.....

UK, Ireland / POLES SUPERIOR TO BRITS? [260]

Didnt you forget to mention that you often over hear people say that.....

Poles are very cold and aloof
Poles can be quite heavy going and dont have much of a sense of humour
Poles take things way to seriously
Poles are over emphatic on matters such as how intelligent you are rather than taking the person as a whole
Poles often dont show much emotion or body language making it hard to engage with them

Dont worry, just simple mistake on your part....

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

The Polish people has been superior in many ways for a long time. like 400 years ago we were one of the largest country in the world and had major impact on the European Culture and economy. And our Nobility was by far the richest nobility in Europe. At that 1 point 5 of the richest Noble families in Poland had more land then whole france. But that's the past, but we still have the proudness in our blood i guess. We are a proud people with a rich History.

Hahaha, good man dave! Did I just hear your face walk in to a door??

I asked them for explanation about some bank holiday...

Thanks WooPee, feel free to enforce my point about polish people and the gateways to knowledge...could you imagine? You get a bank holiday(sweet!) and some pole, with his nose in the air asks you of the reason for that particular bank holiday??....

"WHO NEEDS AN EXPLANATION FOR A FAAACKING BANK HOLIDAY YOU SAD, PATHETIC PR*CK!!!WHY CANT YOU JUST ENJOY THE DAY OFF???WHY??HUH???"

Thats the only explanation I need...

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

Sometimes i wonder has communism made polish people this way...
The strictness, the commitment, the hard working, the pride....
But also the coldness, the lifelessness, the lack of emotion and engagement...

Having lived in Ireland and England I have always been used to life and energy when with people, the banter and above the ability to laugh at one self and not take things overly seriously. I really dont care that cambridge and oxford are the top colleges in the world or that Irish people are liked all over the world, i especially dont use it as ammo in context of other countries, yet many poles dont seem to have breaks on these matters.

That's fine. But its not a likable trait, its more than likely bias and it just reflects poland in a bad light. Why cant they not , every now and again, joke a bit, laugh at how stupid these matters really are and stop getting so caught up.

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

Its no wonder this topic keeps coming up, is it?....Polish pride...

From my experience polish people are in general very proud. Even some of the most shy polish i have met come out with, rather needlessly amid conversation, some very strong, proud words of poland. I used to get pissed off by it. But now I see its just immaturity and perhaps even insecurity behind it all.

Of course, we have the right to say what we think and feel. But I have never heard my mother (who is irish ) or my father who is english say " Ireland/England is more beautiful than X ", as I have heard poles say to me ( Poland being more beautiful than X ) . I find it ignorant as this pole has not seen all of these countries.

Education is one topic I avoid at all costs with poles, clearly a lot of them assume that they are the gate keepers to all knowledge and information. They can be pretty condescending to say the least, and if they fuck up they pretty much wither in shame as though dropping a mug has brought shame on their country...then the smug giggle when the other drops the mug....*breath...

Life / POLES' ENGLISH COMPARED TO EUROPE AS A WHOLE? [39]

It has to do with IQ

I was gonna hint that earlier but then it might hurt some peoples pride. Although language is said to be from mostly the right side of the brain - is ones IQ based on the largely left side of the brain(structure etc)....

Poland rank 4th in Europe so by right they should be on the higher end. But English is more integrated in northern Europe than in the south or east so how can one fairly make a conclusion on this?

Life / POLES' ENGLISH COMPARED TO EUROPE AS A WHOLE? [39]

Nah, I don't think it's fair to judge those that go abroad unless you are in regular contact with them.

Of course, its all circumstantial. English is practically a second language in those "stronger" countries. Scandinavia have english TV for a start and are continuously exposed to english music and sport, a certain level of adoption of english has taken place there. As with holland. But from my experience I think the polish rank high in speaking english.

Some are not so good of course but i recall many times interacting with polish who had no english and seeing how fast they progressed, it was very interesting.
