Food / What is the name of a Soup made from fried onions and buckwheat? [7]

Hello all.When i was a little boy many years ago.My mother used to make a soup that i loved.From what i can remember today,it was made from fried almost burnt onions,buck wheat{kasha} and i do not remember what else.If this is familiar to someone please! a recipe would be very much appriciated.
