USA, Canada / DO AMERICANS/CANADIANS TRAVEL TO POLAND???? [57]

I just read an American article online stating that only 331,000 Americans travelled to Poland last year. Poland is actually in the top 10 European destinations. There's a ton of Polish Americans and Canadians. Are they not spreading the word? Is Poland not advertising itself to America? Poland is just as nice as France and more picturesque than England. And it's a lot cheaper. Maybe there's an ant-Poalnd propaganda in America? Discuss.

News / Poland's Future Includes Fewer Poles, More Foreigners [324]

Yeah, Poland will become more propserous as long as they can avoid majour conflicts with the ever pesky Russians. They're always unstable and a pain in the ass. If Poland and its government is smart it won't let Poland become like France or the UK or even Germany. Too many Muslims living in those countries and they are known to have a lot of kids. The natives of those countries aren't having enough kids to sustain the population. You do the math. Modern, westernized societies have to stop being so selfish and start thinking of having families again. Poland's been through too much **** to just let their culture and country be robbed from them. But these are just my opinions.

But you probably have Polish ancestry. I'm talking about a typical American. But I've heard bad stories about ignorant hick Americans travelling to Europe. Maybe we could do without them lol.

I think your answer may be biased there ukpolska. Here in N.America nobody travels to the UK for the beaches. And it's a widely known fact that England has horrible weather. I say Polands weather on the whole is better. I was just there last summer. I just think London and Paris are multicultural world class cities. They've been promoted as that. And you see people go into debt time and time again just because the TV says it's a trendy place to go to. Any toothless hick in the USA can name France for example as a possible travel destination. F**k the French hehehehe

I respect your opinions but somewhat disagree. I think traditional English architecture is boring, dare I say. The ugly, uninspired architecture of industrial cities you see in Canada and America is a result of their British influence as they were the dominant host cultures in both countries. Canadian cities still look very British inspired. You can't certainly compare that to colourful Polish towns and villages. It's not all like that but what country is perfect? Now I don't know where you are from in Poland and when you visited last but I liked it there very much when I visited Sląsk last year. Polish homes have more colour. My girlfriend's from Ecuador and says she hates how all the homes and buildings look alike in Canada. It's a very British thing. As for the landscape itself. What country doesn't have flat or low lying areas? We have a lot to offer. Mountains and highlands in the south and all the beautiful lakes in the Mazury region. And let's not forget the Baltic. Does England have poppy fields?

As for the French, well they're too arrogant so I'm in no hurry to give them my tourist dollars lol. Why did you leave France by the way? And I once knew an American girl who thought Italy was in France.

Well then.... you heard it here first. Czechs are better all of a sudden. Let me guess, you stayed mostly around the Prague area? Go join a Czech forum.

Anyways, I don't like British weather and don't like for the most part the architecture of tha country. Visit Poland.

Knobworthy? Hehehe- ok. Are you suggesting that NYC or Toronto are beautiful? Sure, they have some interesting architecture but it's mostly dull. I'm familiar with the commy blocks built in Poland but they've done a 180. This is why I'd love to live there. More picturesque! I think the architecture in Warsaw is pretty daring. A lot of cool designs. Also, slowly but surely there is a beautification process going on :) You sound like a typical Polak. Always focussing on the negative not the positive. You don't hear Parisians advertising their ghettos do you?

Miranda,
Yes I'm Polish. I was born there. I wasn't putting down French architecture. The Poles borrowed a lot from that country in terms of style. I was merely stating that England is not as pretty as Poland. And what is everyones problem? This is a Polish forum. I should be allowed to say things like this :) Why does every Polak think so low of themselves. Have a winners attitude I say.

But we're straying from the topic at hand.

I suspect this will fall on deaf ears
Christ... what is your problem? I am wrong because I went to Poland as a tourist? So what? And how would you know I've only been there once? Anyways, if you have nothing good to write then don't write anything. See, this is why Americans/Canadians don't travel to Poland. Because of people like you. You've probably never uttered a positive word about your country.

News / Polish vs russian economy [57]

Well I believe the standard of living for the average Pole is better than for the average Russian. After all there are Russians trying to get into Poland to work while the Poles leave for the UK.

Ukpolska- you're a dummy. You never once acually stated that you were an ethnic Brit. I merely thought you were an expat Pole living in the UK. I suggest you read your posts a little more carefully.

Foreigner- are you British too? If you are then sorry if I hurt your pride. Actually I'm not you wanker. England's over hyped and over exposed. You guys are losing your country to foreigners :)

Ukpolska, grow up and don't get so hung up on my words you lazy twat Brit. Your pathetic attempt at mockery just shows how insecure you are of my criticism. Poland will surpass England one day because the English are known to be lazy. They need the Poles :) Just watch. The Brits even admit this fact.

Eurola,
You're right. In the west you can sell any piece of **** as long as people think it's trendy. Maybe the Poles aren't doing enough on their side. Or maybe Americans aren't letting them advertise cuz of politics :)

Travel / WE ARE BACK FROM POLAND AND HERE IS OUR REPORT [96]

I've been in Canada 20 years and went to Poland last year, pretty much as a tourist and see family I haven't seen in a looooong time. Saw Warsaw, Wroclaw, Brzeg and Karpacz. Gotta say Poland's very picturesque. Warsaw was my fave city because of the history and because of the all the great things you can see there. It's the capital. It's got the most monuments and some great parks and architecture. The city's regaining that pre WWII charm. The city is more pretty than Toronto or Ottawa. Wroclaw is a great city as well and Brzeg is quite a fantastic town. I could live there. And Karpacz in the mountains is beautiful.

To Ukpolska: you get an attractive Polish man and woman dressed in a goral outfit and you advertise the Slavic culture of course. Or you focus on medieval history (Malbork etc) :) I happened to see Bolkow Castle myself in southern Poland. Also I think Krakow sells itself as a great medieval historical city. Warsaw of course is on there as well. Advertise it as chic, cosmopolitain city with a great but also tragic history. The amount of renovations on old historical monuments and buildings has been impressive in the last few years- and it's still ongoing. I love that city. But the amount of hate that city gets from Poles is shocking to me and quite embarassing. The Baltic coast should be advertised as a cheaper alternative to souther Europe. And put a similair spin on our mountain ranges. Every country in Europe is unique. I don't like how a few years ago the Poles used a bloody plumber to entice the French to travel to Poland. Is that what they're seen as in Europe?

On a sidenote, did you know that the Germans hardly know anything about Poland despite being one of our "closest" neighbours? Poles know way more about them then they do about us (like literature and historical heroes).

News / Poland's Future Includes Fewer Poles, More Foreigners [324]

They should implement a law in Germany, France or the UK where if you commit 3 crimes or more (ex. troubled Muslim youth rioting) of any sort and you're a FOREIGNER whose been in that country for 10 years or less, then you are deported out of that country. No more chances to f**k up. Deportation should be automatic depending on the severity of the crime (murder, beheading or act of terror). There should also be a limit to how many Mosques can be built in majour cities. I have faith in Poland that they won't lose their culture any time soon. But the stupid liberal western European countries have to open their eyes. I never want to see burkas in Warsaw or Krakow.
