Food / Eggs - how do you like yours? Poached? Unfertilised? [60]

Did you have any eggs when you were in Poland? (Trying to keep this thread out of Random Lounge)

No I did not, I stuck to Nudle, Milka, Barszcz (Czerwona), Chleb and assorted meats.

Aswell as eating out of course. :) Couldn't resist this....

Life / What is kolęda? [11]

I'm curious and I'd like to know if there is something that makes this take place on this very night?

Which one do you mean?

Annual visit of the priest from your parish.

When does this happen? Any set date?

Life / Illegal drugs enjoyed by many of the young male Poles. Availability? [24]

It used to be. Not now tho.

I think it is still big. When I was in Poland I saw some people in some states because of wódka and I think it's easy to draw an invisible line in your head into what you class as a drunken bum and a crack head.

Someone who has told you that is as knowledgeable as yourself.

Well I'm sorry. Did I claim to be an authority? No. I merely stated what I have been told and what I have seen so please no subliminal insults.

Food / Nudle. Who likes Noodles in Poland? :) [33]

I know it's kind of like the English version of supernoodles and probably seen as somewhat of a poor mans food but I came to know and love Nudle in Poland! So much so that I had my girl send me some over along with the usual Polish goodies! (Milka etc!)

So who likes Nudle? and if so what is your favourite?

This is mine....

Nudle! :D

Language / Most-used Polish verbs (and every-day sentences) [37]

I found this one difficult for a while.
We were at work. I announced to my workmates that it was break time.
'Przerwa.'
The response: 'No.'
Okay then, you keep working, but I'm going for a cup of tea.

Nice to see the K-word has been given a mention too.

I have problems with "Yeah" sometimes I say it so fast it sounds like "Nie" and I get some funny looks :)

Want a wódka party tonight?
Yeah!
Nie kurwa?
Nie, Nie, Yeah, Kurwa
O spoko

History / Has anybody read: Heart of Europe: The Past in Poland's Present [6]

overs the subject in reverse chronology

Oh you are joking?

I hate that style. It's bad enough reading history books I much prefer to spend my time learning but I decided I need to brush up on my English reading whilst finding out about an interesting topic.

there is a fair selection in morrisons as well, don`t know if there are any near you?

Morrisons is in the same town as Asda: Kendal.

Stock up on it. It's about 34p a packet for 2 servings. Full of additives and shite. Damned tasty with some buttered toast or ravioli.

I still have a fair few packs left :) it's just not the same as the Polish home made stuff though!

Yeah I like it there is a small Polish section, There used to be one in the Spar in Ambleside but they got rid of it. Damn.

she claims that it gives you the runs

I haven't had them from drinking the sauce :P

I've tried most of the others too

2nd Fav?

They even trump Pot Noodle and I was a big fan of those in Britain.

I know, I've been told they are tasteless by Poles.

I know there is goulasz and spicy tomato but what are the others again? I only really buy the cheese and herbs one.

There is:

cheese with herbs
curry
spicy chicken
spicy tomato
mushroom
tomato
chilli
pork
and a few more I can't remember.

I do like the spicy ones.
