Genealogy / cemetary in Pabianice, Poland [7]

Thanks Jake. I will look into this. That is both comments. It is nice to meet someone from the area that knows. My great grandparents were protestant, so they would have been buried in the (lutheran) evangelical cemetary. Maybe the church you made reference to may have birth, marriage and death records. If they do, maybe they might be willing to send me photographs by email. That way I can see about getting certified copies of the documents. Especially birth certificates. Or at least they can direct me to the proper civil registration office that has the documents.

Genealogy / cemetary in Pabianice, Poland [7]

Does anyone live in this town or near it? I would like to know about a cemetary located here. I have some relatives buried there. I would like to know if someone else who has relatives buried there if they can visit my relatives graves and send me photos of the markers. The names are Froelich (Frohlich) and Wegner. I think I have 1 or 2 other relatives buried there. At the moment I do not have their names in front of me. I can provide that later. Dzien Kuje all.

News / Brits battle to save historic railway in Poland [9]

I hope they can save it. If they do, a couple of magazines that they should 'advertise in', one would be 'Trains' and the other is called 'Railroads and Railfans'. That way people here in North America will become aware of something like that.

The other thing is to make a video from beginning to end of the equipment and the scenery along the line. There are a few model train shows here where videos are sold. That way the money raised from the sales of the DVD's will help towards the rehabilatation of the line. I do not have the name of the one dvd producer here. But I can obtain it within a couple of days. Too bad about one thing, I have done track maintenance for a short line here. Wish I could obtain work on the line to do that again.

Work / Polish Labor Is Scarce as Workers Go West [60]

I do not have a degree. But from my understanding my grandparents and mother were and still are a Polish citizen. Right now I am trying to get the necessary documents to prove it. I am more than willing to immigrate from Canada to Poland. For I worked on a farm, railway track maintenance, renovation and as a security guard. So what can I find for work? I also have a TESOL certificate.

Genealogy / how many know their own family histories? [139]

Hello all

I only know part of the family history based on the family bible. It goes back as far as the turn of the 1800's. I know that my grandfather and a brother of his served in the Polish Armed forces. I have a picture of both of them in uniform and a 3rd brother who is in civilian clothing. I was told he may have served twice. Once in the early 1920's and then about 1939. Where would be the best place to obtain military records? Would the place in England have military records information prior to WWII?

I do know that my my grandfathers' family was involved in the textile industry. His father was 1st married in Wegrow. Then he for some reason not mentioned had been remarried. Just wish I knew where to get information on his Polish citizenship status. He and his family had live in the French zone of Germany prior to immigration to Canada in 1951. My aunts said that they were in Germany for about between 6-8 years. The only problem is tracking that information down. Dzien kuje everyone. I do know that my grandfather was born in Elzbietow and my mother was born in Lublin.
