Travel / First time in Poland. What part of the country to see? [12]

Many people can not "fix" on Poland because they know so little about it or are just 30 years behind reality. Go South to the the mountains and and go north to the The Baltic Sea. You'll be impressed. Of course, if you drive in between you'll be impressed as well as in "discovery' mode.

News / The Maluch Car [34]

This is a funny image, but I also read that 13 people can fit in it (some kind of student challenge), so what's the big deal with only two naked people?

UK, Ireland / What do Polish people think of Ireland and the Irish? [50]

Well, I don't know about Poles in Ireland and Irish in Poland, but we like each other in the USA. We like the Germans here too, you know. :) Once you land on this USA soil all the European squabbles are nonexistent.

News / The Maluch Car [34]

Wildrover, I suppose it takes two with some gymnastics skills. If the ceiling fan is a fantasy, maluch should be be quite comfortable, perhaps more comfortable than a motorcycle. :)

USA, Canada / FIRST POL-AM CATHOLIC (?) PRIESTESS [72]

I think they (priests) should be allowed to get married and have fun combined with misery just like everybody else... :)

Life / Bisons of Poland - your thoughts? [90]

Bison Steak anyone? :) I had a steak, as well as a burger on my last trip to Yellowstone Park. They are quite tasty and really 'beef" like...many restaurants have them on the menu up there.

News / Poles, get ready for mass migration from Russia ! [50]

Yes, I know what you're saying with the security token and number. We use it here too. I agree that Poland is pretty well equipped technologically in that respect, but you must admit that there is still plenty of unnecessary bureaucracy when it comes to post office or any official business in town hall or village hall. The necessary paperwork and signatures needed are form 30 years ago.

But, that's OK..for now.
Someday one can walk in, ask to get a business license in (whatever) and walk out with one held in his/hers hand :)

Nie od razu Kraków zbudowano.

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

"WHO NEEDS AN EXPLANATION FOR A FAAACKING BANK HOLIDAY YOU SAD, PATHETIC PR*CK!!!WHY CANT YOU JUST ENJOY THE DAY OFF???WHY??HUH???"

lol. Yes, I enjoy the extra paid holidays off from work, but I like to know the reason for them too! Should I be wondering about my X-mas day off? Or 4th of July? I do want to now. Knowledge is power.

News / Poles, get ready for mass migration from Russia ! [50]

Really? Which small western European country would that be? I know Poland went full steam ahead with the EU membership, but I can't believe any country in Europe really stays behind...ok, maybe Albania (just kidding).

Some e-stuff I saw when in Europe last May I did not see in the US.

UK, Ireland / POLES SUPERIOR TO BRITS? [260]

You people in this EU should really treat each other better. How can you be a "Union" when you're constantly so divided? I don't believe in better or worse.

The cultural difference, upbringing and some values might be different, but not necessarily better in either. The strong 'family" ties thing is questionable. If we love our family so much - why don't we hesitate to leave them for a dollar or a pound? Often, the children are abandoned because of that.

Genealogy / how many know their own family histories? [139]

The amount of people looking for their roots amazes me. It seems like we're living in some kind of identity crises times now. The search for identity is enormous, it is almost fashionable to to list your heritage, it's a part of conversations at a party...third generation descendants improvising cooking foods what they 'think" their "busia' or 'nana" did...why not then but now?

Phew! Luckily, I know who I am :) ....hmmm, do I?

UK, Ireland / WHY DO POLISH PEOPLE THAT COME TO ENGLAND CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH? [118]

I guess the employers must be crooks, because they give work to cheap labour force knowing this "labour force" won't be able to satisfy the customer.

This pretty much describes the call centers located somewhere in India that most US customers have to deal with nowadays... :)

USA, Canada / US auto bailout [49]

I barely have any reason to drive on a highway nowadays, unless some people want to have a lunch in city...
My little silver baby hit a 100 last week and is running without a squeak! So there.

35mph on the Hi-way

lol. I'll try it next time and count all the fingers.

USA, Canada / US auto bailout [49]

I'm driving a Ford for the last 8 years and it is as good as any other. I'm due for a new one soon and just out of spite - I don't want a foreign one.

I hope the big three can survive and learn a lesson, for the sake of people who work there. As F15Guy said, it's better to have a job for $30 or so than none at all.

USA, Canada / US auto bailout [49]

I don't like the whole bail out situation. It's just rewarding the very bad management. Anybody would love to mess up and then get this "bail out". They call it a bridge loan, which will be repaid, but who can guarantee that the 'bridge' will be paid? I think they should stop the extravagant pays, go humble for a while, keep on working and doing a good job at it. We don't really need the market flooded with Japanese cars. I'm sure GM, Ford and other CAN do a good job. $45/hr is enough for now. The country does good, we all do good. In the mean time, as long as you make enough for your fairly comfortable living, take it. Nobody NEEDS a corporate jet, just fly on business in a darn commercial plane just like everybody also. Wal-Mart execs can do it - so can Ford's and GM's.

Sorry you got your arse kicked in a bad marriage, but there is plenty of other fish in the sea. No need to be bitter.

USA, Canada / Visa red tape, how to move to Poland from the USA? [9]

The visa application seems to have alot of red tape, bank statement proof, health insurance proof.

LOL. This reminds me the time I applied for American visa decades ago. I guess it works both ways. :)

Love / How to win over a Polish guy? [13]

Feed him well, home cooked meals do miracles. You win his heart by keeping his belly full. :) (Now, I know what I did wrong in the past). hehehe.

Life / What do people think of Italian Products? [37]

Heya, beckski. I think, Italian gold is mostly 18kt.
It's the Russian which is 14kt. I wear a ring made in Russia, 14kt, which I bought when still in Poland. It looks very different and gets everybody's attention here.

Life / What do people think of Italian Products? [37]

Pizza and pasta are my favorite choices of Italian products. A bottle of Amarone to complement it. :)

Sorry, don't care for the shoes. Pretty, but not comfortable...and the cars, quite lovely, but can't afford one.

Also, I prefer Greek olive oil to Italian one.

Food / Top food products you'd want to see in a Polish shop [32]

Awww, majonez kielecki? I have to look for it! I'm from kieleckie and did not know there is such thing. I should go to polish delis more often, but I have Trader Joe's on my way from work instead and I get all my stuff there, I just love that store.

(y'know polishgirltx not that kind of love)

Travel / Misconceptions of tourists about Poland [14]

Yes...hilarious and really surprising. Oh, well - maybe not :)
I live in the greater Chicago "burb" and I commute to work 20 miles. When asked where I live, and I answer, I'm asked "Where's that"?...I heard about it". lol. Lots of people in the USA keep close to home, anything further away is a big unknown. I've met an elderly person in Chicago who never went to see Lake Michigan - it was too far!
