News / Writing Polish letters on Gadu Gadu please help! [16]

This has probably been said a thousand times on here but i am having trouble seeing Polish letters on Gadu Gadu. I have managed to change my keyboard so i can type the letters ń ś ć ą ę etc etc but when i try to type them on Gadu Gadu they look really strange.

I have Windows Vista and instructions people have given previously on this forum have been for XP.

Any ideas would be much appreciated , dziekuje bardzo :)

Travel / Czestochowa - what is it like? [30]

I might visit Czestochowa while im staying in Lodz. Does anyone know if it has any Jewish history? (Old synagogues, Jewish cemetaries, memorials). Or any other places to visit, i quite like parks and scenic walks.

I just want to get a feel for the REAL Poland, not just what you see in Warsaw or Krakow.
Thanks!

UK, Ireland / Will Polish names eventually become popular in the UK? [53]

My fave Polish name which i will name my son (when i eventually have children) is 'Symche', it was a name of a character in The Pianist by Wladyslaw Szpilman. I presume its the Polish version of the Hebrew name 'Simcha'.

Oh and i'm English. :)

UK, Ireland / Living and Studing in the UK? [3]

If its a degree at a university then a course is around £3000 tuition fees for UK and EU students, at a college the prices range from about £200 to £500 for a year course (usually). I wouldnt worry about getting a place, if you have the money to pay for it then you can usually do any course you want!! :)

Czesc!! :)

I am going to £ódź for around 4 or 5 days and wanted to take a day trip to somewhere nice nearby, so i just wondered if anyone knows of any nice little towns or villages which are no more than 2 hours on the train? Just somewhere close i could visit, which would give me the real experience of Poland!!

Perhaps somewhere with some Jewish history.

All suggestions would be appreciated, dziekuje!!! :)
