What are you on about, apart from having another spiteful stab at Poland

Funny, that's exactly what you are about. Any chance to a take a dig at the English. You are a complete xenophobe, illustrated by your use of the following term:

Pomgolian

Simply pathetic. But I wouldn't expect anything else. You are an embarrassment to the country to claim to represent.

I have never been to Poland

Quite brilliant.

I wont argue that.. because we have had this ,, its a daily thing and as much as we tell them to deny some of the abusers rights to come in pf because of this, they are still here..

So what you are basically saying is:

If you form part of some minority group (religious, ethnic, political, sexual orientation etc.), you should hide this fact in case it offends people? You should not visibly identify yourself with your group? Muslims shouldn't wear Muslim dress because there are many out there who disagree with Islam. Those who do are just asking to be attacked? Christians shouldn't wear a crucifix as Christianity offends some people, and makes them vulnerable to attacks? Black people should cover themselves in flour before they entire a white areas, as there are white people who hate them. How dare they show any visible signs of what they are! How dare they embrace who they are!!

A white supremacist may get very upset if a black man walks in to his local bar. Are you seriously suggesting this black man does not have a right to enter this bar? Are you suggesting that he 'gets what he deserves' if he does? Should we just accept this fact and say 'that's life'? Surely not?

And that bit about women accepting homosexuality is utter rubbish I'm afraid. That's like saying women aren't racist, as few women are involved in violent race hate crimes. I can assure you that there are many women who are homophobic.

Personally, I don't give a f*ck if a guy comes on to me in a bar (it has happened a number of times). It's exactly the same as if a women I am not interested in does the same (that is currently every women). If I am not attracted to them I will politely make it clear. If they continue to do so, I may get upset. This is no different to guys who constantly try it with girls (who are clearly not interested) in bars and clubs. Do you think a straight guy who eyes up a Lesbian in a gay club deserves a shoeing?

I'm sure that a great deal of homophobia is manifested through people's insecurity in regards to their own sexuality.

getting upset at people who dont accept it isnt going to change it either..

I'm not upset, I just pity them. Some people really are that stupid, it's very sad.

they have a right to feel the way they do as much as a homosexual does

Just as every KKK member has the right to hate blacks as much as black people have the right to be black?

Like I said, people can think what they want. If that makes them a bigoted moron, then so be it. I can't change anyone, although I can point out the above. If someone came on to PF and said ''I hate Polish people, I don't think they should have the same rights as other people, and it is my right to think so'', I'm sure they would receive a few abusive/indignant responses. Even though it is their right to believe it. No?

then why run around showing society your gay by having marches?

To show that thay are proud of who they are. Why shouldn't they celebrate their sexuality in the same way that people celebrate their culture, religion, nationality etc?

why look a man up and down fully knowing he is heterosexual and wondering why these violent hate crimes happen..

I didn't realise that eyeing someone up in a bar was worthy of a lynching! I've seen guys eye up my girlfriend when I've been with her. Am I be entitled to carry out a violent hate crime?

some things will never be fully accepted by people. and you cant make them.

I know. In the same way that some people are racist/xenophobic and wont be changed. Doesn't make it right though.

I've had in-depth discussions with 3 gay men, all close friends. They poured out their heart to me and confirm what you said, Irons.

Exactly. I remember an Israeli fella I knew at University doing the same to me. He was in denial for a long time, and spent time doing national service. The treatment of homosexuality in the Israeli army meant that he supressed his homosexuality and was feircly homophobic. On the plane over to Israel before he came out to his family, he saw American Beauty and broke down in tears. You can suppress your whole life but it wont change the fact that you are what you are. I believe you are far more likely to lead a fulfilled existance if you can accept it rather than living in denial.

lesbianlife.about.com/od/comingoutadvice/a/Causes.htm

Is being gay a choice?
If you ask most gay people they will tell you that being gay is not something they chose. Why would anyone choose to be something that could cause them to be scorned by society, rejected by their families, deny them rights and subject them to possible violent hate crimes? That is not to say that all of being gay or lesbian is negative. In fact, most lesbians, once they come out, say they've never been happier or more fulfilled.

If you show a boy a world of men holding hands and acting weak and without loveable women and examples of men caring for women, he would turn gay!

Please stop it. It's as cringeworthy as watching David Brent.

Others go through phases. I've known people who are heterosexual but have had a gay experience. Curiosity plays its part too.

The science isn't concrete. There are many possible factors. Quite a compelling theory centres on Oestrogen levels in the womb. Either way, every gay person I have ever spoken to on the issue, has maintained that it was most certainly not a life choice. Most have indicted that they knew they were different from a very early age, and would never have chosen to be gay (not surprising considering the number of bigots out there). Most have gone suffered painful periods of denial during their early life.

But I guess you could only know the above if you actually spoke to a homosexual about their sexuality.

I believe homosexuality could be cured in every individual, through their own control, like through meditation. Some maybe became gay through a unlucky love to a woman etc. and rather do not want to be reminded and stay thereby gay.
Those individuals would rather prefer to stay gay, its OK. But live with the consequences, well they must. No teaching!

With the greatest respect, this is because you do not personally know any homosexuals. If you did, you would realise that what you have written is utter rubbish.

Homosexuality is not a concious choice.

Not all couples are infertile. But all homosexual couples are.

That's not true now, is it? What does the church say about heterosexual infertile couples?

because it doesn't produce children... no procreation...
no natural way of having family/children...

This also applies to infertile heterosexual couples.

What is normal?

Stop this s*it and try to prove him wrong.

Yawn. If you are going to make a b*llocks statement which implies that a high proportion of homosexuals are paedophiles, the onus should be on you to prove it correct.

I know quite a few homosexuals. None of them are paedophiles to the best of my knowledge.

How many homosexuals do you know Grzegorz?

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

This thread is still running!!

I have spent the last 10 days sampling the delights of Klusky Slanskie (sp?), Bigos and Jellied Carp (actually not so nice), whilst visiting Zakopane and Krakow. I thought I would give my final 10 cents worth on this thread before I head off for midnight mass at that big old church down the road in Czestahowa.

I have spent the last 10 days talking to Poles and this has not been a topic of debate. Most have more class. I think you will find that the vast majority of people have moved on, and do not demand apologies for a 'stab in the back' which amounts to war time politics. You've already acknowledged that Poland's woes were not cause by Britain, so why continue ot b1tch about it? Why not ask Bratwurst or a Russian poster for an apology for the rape of Poland? I have highlighted the parts of your post which indicate your personal grievance with Britain. I have done nothing. My country fought with yours during WW2 against a common foe (Germany). Unfortunately for your country, you also had a foe who was an ally of Britain. Sh1t situation? Most certainly. Could it have been avoided? Unlikely?

Continuing to cry and playing th blame game doesn't help anybody 'move on'. During WW2, Poland was bent over and f*cked by nearly everyone. I would suggest that Britain was at least 6th in line.

For that I sincerely apologise.

Merry Christmas.

At that very conference our allies gave away our eastern territories to Stalin just as Hitler had done so previously

You have to be in possession of something in order to give it away. Who occupied these territories at the time of Yalta? What could Britain or the US have feasibly done, to make Stalin relinquish Poland?

Whatever the arguments on this thread, this is one point that (as far as I can see) has never been answered, by those who accuse Britain and the US of 'selling out' Poland.

Stalin got to Berlin before his Allies, and Poland was part of his prize. You can argue all day long whether Churchill and FDR gave Polish freedom due consideration, but the fact remains that they were in no position to do anything about it regardless.

I don't think that military intervention against the Soviet Union late in WW2 was ever a realisatic option. America had the means but not the will, and Britain (even with the will) were in no position to do so.

By April 1, 1945, the Russians were outside Berlin. They built up for two weeks, knowing that Berlin would be heavily contested. The Western Allies planned to drop paratroops to take Berlin, but decided against it. Eisenhower saw no need to suffer casualties taking a city that would be in the Soviet sphere of influence once the war was over.

If the Americans weren't prepared to suffer casualties taking Berlin, they most certainly weren't prepared to suffer them wrestling Poland from Stalin. Unfortunately, Poland was f*cked from the moment it was carved up between Hitler and Stalin.

(again at a great cost to the victors because of monies diverted to the belligerents who started the war as opposed to using that money to help their own.)

Germany paid reparations to Britain and France, who in turn paid back their war loans to the US, who in turn lent money to Germany to rebuild.

I wonder who the winners were here?

After the devastation of WWI certain nations, and I am not judging them, seemed to have lost the will to fight.

A generation of young men lost for a few hundred yards of muddy field. It's clear to see why.

late in WWII do you feel that intervention on the part of the French, British, and the Americans concerning Soviet expansionism was necessary?

I don't think that military intervention against the Soviet Union late in WW2 was ever a realisatic option. America had the means but not the will, and Britain (even with the will) were in no position to do so.

BB, one should never let a belligerent re-arm...

Are you referring to Hitler or Germany? If so, are you suggesting that Germany should forever be denied a military?

The French could have done it (invaded Germany after the Polish campaign started).

How long did the French hold out for when Germany invaded? Besides, the French are the French ;)

Out of emotion more than anything else. Frustrated that we didn't save more lives, even though we jumped in 2 days after the invasion of Poland. Blame those who failed to see what Hitler was doing.

Emotion does not make for rational analysis.

Why can't Poles even say “Thank you”?

I don't really expect Poles to say "Thank you", however I most certainly don't expect them to b1tch about being stabbed in the back by Britain. I genuinely think (well I hope) that the real Poles who do view history in this way, are very much in the minority. I understand the suffering experienced by many Poles during WW2 (my best friend's grandmother is a prominent holocaust survivor - her testimony nearly bought me to tears), however I do resent the utterly ridiculous notion that Britain was in some position to prevent it all from happening.

GB was a democracy and how should London explain it to John Average who sees happy, re-unified Germans that his sacrifice, a war, an invasion is need to keep them unhappy!

Whilst the policy of appeasement was clearly flawed (again, hindsight is a wonderful thing), it should be recognised that Britain desperately wished to avoid a war, as well as being hopelessly unprepared for it. People who suggest that invading Germany in 1939 (or even prior in some cases) are, imo, living in cloud cuckoo land.

it is about the fact that a family is a procreative union of a man and woman

So infertile heterosexual couples can't be a family?

You've just spent countless posts refuting this.

What is more conspicuously absent is your lack of ability to generate original ideas and merely hang on to the coat tails of Messrs Kikline and Harry et al.

Original ideas? Ha ha ha. The 'original ideas' which you and your ilk espouse are known as revisionism; the kind of historcal techniques employed by such well respected 'historians' such as David Irving. You're 'historical fact' forms part of a self-pitying agenda which is quite frankly pathetic. I'm not going to respond to ridiculous ideas such as:

Everybody knows that British are what they are. They needed Poles they were nice they didn't need Sikorski they have killed him. It is their culture do the same with them :) Be British !!! When you need British smile when you don't need them anny more stab them in their back it is their culture, use their culture key.

And why should I? I didn't graduate in History to argue with some platic poles who feel victimized. My answers are sometimes less than polite, because your ideas are quite frankly insulting. I would not argue with David Irving over whether the holocaust occurred for the very same reason.

What you are doing involves setting an agenda (namely that all Brits are lying backstabbers) and putting a twist on historical facts (creating the illsuion that Britain was in a position to and could have saved Poland) to shape this belief. I do take my hat off to you though, as some 25 pages later, you and your minions are still going strong.

In fact, what is more conspicuously absent is a sense of respect for women, judging by your and Vanfukoolo's post's against certian female forum members on this topic. You and your ilk disgust me and I'm sure others feel the same whose modesty may stop them from commenting - I however have no such trepidation.

What you've done is akin to a form of harassment. If you weren't a halfwit I'd be concerned but your apparent lack of logic suggests you have no control over your actions.

If you were a man, you'd apologise. Fair enough you have a different view to these ladies but that's no excuse for the way you post.

Bravo sir, bravo. You had me in stitches with this piece. Coming from the very person who created this thread, with language designed to insult and antagonise. I'm sexist because I happen to be arguing with females, but you are not racist in using the term Pom? Go on admit it, this thread was one big fishing exercise. You created it, and sat back tugging yourself off in delight as the indignant replies came in from both sides. How sad.

One of those bled dry under the British was my grand uncle. He wanted to return home but couldn't. Kind of sucks doesn't it? But I'm just a plastic Pole with no connection to the issues, aren't I? This coming from two Poms on a Polish forum, one of whom has no clearly identified link to anything Polish and another who wishes he had a Polish girlfriend.

*pulls out world's smallest violin*

Your hatred for all things British is clear to see. Anger does not make for rational argument I'm afraid. Answer this one question for me. What could Britain have done to ensure Polish independence after 1945? Realistically. Do you solely blame Churchill, or does your animosity extend towards FDR?

You'd like my Polish girlfriend Ozi, beautiful and intelligent. Much better than tugging yourself off every night.

I don't see why you can't at least give Poland some due respect for these victories.

I only speak for myself but this debate has nothing to do with not giving Poland my respect. I am merely arguing against the following misconceptions:

1) That Britain betrayed Poland by not launching an immediate land invasion of Germany in 1939.

2) That Britain were in any position to ensure a free Poland in 1945 (thus betraying them again).

I'm not saying that the Poles have not fought and suffered, merely that their misfortunes are above all geogrphical, and not part of some Western conspiracy to bend them over and screw them. It's easy to feel like a victim, and that usually involves blaming someone. In this case, it appears to be just about the whole of Europe and to some extent the US. I'm surprised that Spain has come in for a pasting yet.

Blame Poland for the invasion of Poland

I was actually referring to this:

The best course of action to everyone else would have been not allowing the wehrmacht to get as powerful as it became.

Do keep up.

You are harping on about Britain's responsibility in regards to containing Germany. Surely POland could have done more?

I would like to see statistics. I would bet a months wages that Polish children are more savvy in European history than average European.

Truth hurts.

Why would the truth hurt? Bratwurst is German!

One huge mistake with the treaty was Western Europe wanting to punish Germany financially instead of militarily. Would have been much better keeping them from having a navy and air force while allowing their economy to thrive.

Well done love. Yes Versailles was a shambles. Tell us something we don't know.

She's American, but apart from that you're spot on.

Are Poland to blame as well? I mean they did border Germany. Surely they would have been best placed to launch a land invasion? No?

Why don't you address my questions about the Treaty Of Versailles and how Germany was allowed to violate it's "points".
I think they were allowed to do that so the Wehrmacht could become a formidable force against the Soviet military.

Were the US party to the Treaty of Versailles? If so, why didn't they do anything about it?

Let me guess... it wasn't their duty? It was Britain's duty to ensure the balance of power in Europe.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but stop looking for someone to blame. It's boring.

The Second Reich, also known as The German Empire, ruled by the Hohenzollern dynasty, in the areas known as Prussia and Brandenburg, from 1871 to 1919, they fell with the ending of World War I. During this Reich the "Iron Chancellor" Otto Von Bismark united Germany, and set the stage for World War I.

Where did you c&p that from? When did OvB unify Germany again?

And the USA?

Stating that Britain did not lauch an immediate land invasion of Germany is a fact. Labelling th e reasons for this a betrayal is your opinion (and therefore subjective).

Glad to be of assistance.
