USA, Canada / Zubrowka vodka in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver? Mazowiecka Zytnia? [15]

Thanks for the correction Darius, I can't figure out how to switch on polish characters at work Mac and I got the spelling wrong anyway ;)

But I do know it means Stomach Vodka!
This is actually my favorite drink in the world... but you get a horrible hangover if you abuse of it, as it's sweet ;)

Life / Why is Polka music played in Poland so much different than in the USA? [36]

Polka vs Rock? That's like asking why all the music in the US is rock and not folk music... or why everything in Italy is dance music and not Opera...

I'm canadian and lived in Poland for 2 years and experienced a wide range of music, although my tastes revolved around electronic music. For the more popular acts, I'm really fond of Reni Jusis.

I found that polish hip hop was very popular. For a taste of that, look up 'polski hip hop' on Youtube. Unfortunately, you'll find a lot of the gangstar bling-bling stuff but the sound is still unique.

Also, I didnt know until I lived there that Vader were polish!

Love / Is it possible to be friends with girls in Poland? [59]

It's funny, I had this polish friend, a girl, whom I worked with while I was an ex-pat from Canada for two years. We only talked at work in the beginning but eventually went out for some drinks or the restaurant after work from time to time. Anyone seeing us could easily have mistaken us as a couple, a guy and a girl eating and drinking together. She was very attractive but she said she had a boyfriend from out of town. I always wondered if she was attracted to me or if she just wanted to make her boyfriend jealous, but in any case, i never put the moves on her: I also had a girlfriend back home. But I've been wondering if she was interested, would she have put the move on me, or are polish girls more traditional: waiting for the guy to take the first step?

My reasoning is that it's probably not that different from here, but then again, foreigners seem to agree that girls where I'm from (Quebec) are easier than most Canadian and American girls, and are more agressive: taking the first step when they want. So if that girl was like girls from Quebec, I would conclude she wasn't that interested afterall, but I have a feeling she might have been waiting for me to make a move...
