UK, Ireland / Sending a parcel to Poland from UK [30]

I don'e know it this is of any help but I've sent a number of things to PL and so far all have arrived safe and sound. Just make your package look as dull and uninteresting as you can.

UK, Ireland / Daily Mail - mudslinging a specialty; guide on starting financially in PL [10]

I must say that since going away around Europe this summer and experiencing first hand the, usually, friendly nature of everyone. I am ashamed to come back to the UK and find such rasism (spelling)? here. I know it is not everyone but still if you look around it scares me how innocent it has become, there was a comedian pretending to be a barkeeper who was visciously slaking the German language, I find it saddening but it is not for me to judge.

I can not wait till I am free of Uni and can wander, free around the world. :-)

Going to PL to live for a bit would indeed be an adventure.

Love / Advice for meeting her Polish parents! [44]

lol I really wish I'd known all this before I met my friends' parents. I'm sure I culturally put my foot in it a few times.

I don't approve of discrimination but the "Oh only he's foreigner" excuse dose help when my ignorance shows. :-)

But I'm learning and trying so alls well (I hope) :-P

Life / Teachers and teaching styles in Poland [6]

Czesc everyone,

In a few months, I am off to Poland as the head of an English camp and I have a question for you Poles about teachers and teaching styles in PL.

As with all countries the approach to teaching, education and of course teaching is very different, I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea about how teachers teach, what strategies do they use and what are the main focuses of the classroom and learning?

I want to try and provide the best learning experience I can for my students and if I come in with an English style that is completely alien to my students it might well be detrimental to their learning.

Any suggestions ?

Cheers Tom

p.s. I could go and look this up in a book but to get 1st hand accounts is so much more helpful and illuminating. :-)

Dzięki James,

That is a fantastic start, I remember from last year that keeping control could sometimes be a REAL problem.
I will certainly take these points down, I am considering producing some helpful points for my teachers which they can use as a suggested 'Polish' guide and these will definatly be there.

Tom

p.s. Don't worry about your English, it seems very good from just reading that post. Certainly better than my duffer's Polish. :-)
