Thanks for the info everybody.
A few have mentioned the dress code thing and getting turned away at the door. What should one wear to get into these places? I'm not into wearing extremely dressy clothing for a night of partying. Are jeans and a nice shirt OK?

Also, I'm from the U.S., not Poland, so will this get me turned away at the door?

You need to read snopes.com, or even wikipedia, and it's evident that this whole "Amero" thing is a simple urban legend.

The U.S. wouldn't weaken its position by taking on the weaker economies and positions of its two socialist neighbors. Also, the Canadians stand to lose from such an arrangement by taking on the U.S. national debt. And none of these three nations are close enough friends to simply help each other out.

The people of the U.S. and Canada would never except such a thing, as both peoples are proud and willing to defend their sovereignty.

All these conspiracy theorist need to focus all their energy on a real problem. That may yield a result.

Unfortunately this is the only # I have. I feel asking for her number would have put her on the spot more than asking her out for the evening, since it's easier to make an excuse about the evening than it is to come up with a reason not to give a phone number. That's just my opinion anyway.

I appreciate everyones opinion on this. Most were reassuring. I left Warsaw the next day and haven't had an opportunity to talk since. I figure I'd wait until after the holidays.

I agree with what you guys said about having nothing to lose. But do you all think it would be that bad to contact her at work?

Judging by the fact that it's a small place, and she works her shift alone, I don't think there is a risk of getting her in trouble.

I didn't pressure or burden her at all.
We just talked about different thinks, casually, for about an hour. I think we both felt comfortable, because the conversation was so easy and relaxed.

Only when I had to go did I mention meeting later. I only mentioned this once, and also told her if she had plans not to worry about it.

There was no pressure at all.

Wyspainska, I did have her friend call her mobile right then, but she didn't answer. You're correct, in hindsight I should have just asked for her number, but since I didn't I may just call her at work. As others have mentioned, I don't have much too lose.

Is 3000 to 5000zl enough to live decently in the area. I've only spent a week in Warsaw, and I'm not familiar with the actual cost of living, such as rent, food, etc.

I don't want to move there and struggle to get by.

Well, Polski_zyd, if there was a large number of Poles with my experience on western built aircraft I guess Polish companies wouldn't need to hire western techs.

I've posted on here before in regards to my family history, and everyone has been very helpful. I've found some info which I think is leading me in the right direction, and am hoping someone can clarify this for me.

I now have some citizenship papers for my grandfathers brother. The paper states that he was born in Kohan, Russia, Poland. It states that he must not remain loyal to the Republic of Poland. These papers are from around 1920.

Does anyone known where this area may be?
I have been trying for a long time to determine where in Poland my family is from, and think this may be the only solid lead I will find.

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I visited the forum here, and I think I've made significant progress on finding my family origins. I still need some help though.

I know nothing about my great-grandparents, who immigrated to the U.S. about 100 years ago, but recently I was able to find where they are buried, as well as a ship passenger list that contains my great-grandmothers and some of her childrens names.

Her name was Pelagia Fabiszewska and the list states she came from Mokowo Poland.
I have also found a document from one of her children stating he (his name was Stanislaw) was from Kochon.
According to a 1920 census, as well as the church where he is buried, my great-grandfather's name was Alexander Fabiszewski, though he may have also been known as Marien.

I've learned this so far: Mokowo and Kochon are both small villages located in the municipality of Gmina Dobrzyn nad Wisla, which is located in Lipno County, in the voivodeship (state) of Kuyavian-Pomeranian, in north-central Poland.

I am thrilled I've been able to find the names of these villages, as I've been trying to find this information for several years. My question is, where do I go from here???

I really want to find some info within these towns to solidify that the info I have is correct. Can anyone help me contact the local government of church to try to find some record of my family? I checked out some local websites but they are in Polish, so I couldn't read them.

Any help would be great! I'm visiting Krakow in a week, and if I can be sure my family came from Mokowo of Kochon I would like to visit these towns while I'm there.
