Food / For a beginner Polish cook [10]

Maybe it's some sort of 'smoked sausages' :) And the thing the woman is carrying just looks like a typical hair dryer.

History / Want to know more about Poles and Polish soldiers during WWII? [18]

Hi!
Just enjoy watching...

maxior.pl/?p=index&id=35093&0 // link not working //

I have just seen this 10minutes film about Poles and Polish military units during the WW2. I know that there are many of people here who are seeking some information concerning Polish history - here, please check this short film. It's really good and worth commenting on...

Till the next time!

News / sending a letter to poland [33]

Nah! I often buy books via the Internet and none of them has been stolen so far. So just buy a nice and proper envelope and go ahead!

Life / Kissing below the Mistletoe [17]

Hi!
As far as I am concerned this custom is relatively a novelty here. It was taken from the West just a few years ago, before that time hardly anybody had had some mistletoe in their houses. But at present people sell and buy mistletoe very often. Yesterday I went to a local market and saw plenty of mistletoe sellers there. Hope I could help you. Cheers!

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

Personally speaking, I don't like overgeneralisation - Poles hate Russians, Pakistans hate Indians, etc. The truth is that this is rather a "state's policy" expressed by media and many people tend to see it as a general attitude of the whole nation. It's wrong. We can hate just individuals (and this is something normal, for there are a lot of freaks who are so hostile and prejudiced against others), but not the whole countries. That's all.

News / BRAIN DRAIN ON POLAND [101]

And what do I get from Poland 1234? I'm an English teacher here - working in a local secondary school. I started to work in September this year, so I'm a rookie intern belonging to the lowest echelon. My salary (full-time job excluding extra hours) is about 700 zl ( $230) on hand per month!! I'm in dilemma now, for I do like this job and working with my students, seeing their progress and so on (even when they drive me crazy sometimes), however, if I found a better job with higher salary on the local market, I wouldn't think much and go there. I have a family - two kids of whom I take care of - so I'm obligated to keep everything above the subsistence level. Isn't in sad that sometimes you have to resign from things you like like just because you're not appreciated enough?

Love / Polish girls can really have fun [13]

But on the other hand, there's a bunch of Poles who are neither churchgoers nor believers. And as far as a faith is concerned, it should be treated as an individual thing for individuals, not as sth obligatory for the whole country. That's all

Pyramus - you're welcomed here. Cheers!

Genealogy / Polish Silesians? [25]

Oh believe me. I used to attend to high school with a few Silesians - they way of speaking was more or less similar to normal Polish (let's say they were understandable). However, most of their specific phrases had direct connection with German. All in all, it's relatively easy to understand them. That's all. Cheers!
