Genealogy / U.S. Polish ethnic enclaves? [19]

Milwaukee, WI had a large Polish community in the mid-late1800s.

And I agree with Spot - Northern MI has a couple of communities that have a large Polish presence (Posan & Cheboygan).

Genealogy / Looking for any information on the Surname "Sokolowichski" [6]

Hi - My family name was Sokolowitz - in which the "witz" sounds like "wich". We are desperately trying to find any connection we can, to no avail. Our g-grandparents and great-great uncle came over around 1870 time frame to Milwaukee. Lorie
