Life / Questions about doctors and medications in Poland [5]

Just wondering if it will be difficult getting into a doctor and receiving medication - I'll be in a smaller town - Elblag. I will have insurance through my job. I know this might sound like a goofy question to some of you. This is new for me so, I was just wondering if there are any difficulties with these of there is anything I should know.

Thanks for any help!

Work / Some questions about moving to Poland, I am to teach English [12]

So I am moving to Poland (Elblag) in mid-September to teach English. Everything looks grand right now with the position. This will be something totally new to me. If this position does not work out, there seems to be plenty of other teaching opportunity. Is this correct? Also the contract is for 3,000 (PLN) a month - furnished flat is included in this too. This seems to be pretty good? What do you think? Also, I am not a big spender, but what do you think is adequate to bring money wise? Should I bring some American cash? Is there anything particular I should bring? These might seem a little bit funny to those who have been there - Once again this is new to me, so any serious help would be greatly appreciated. Here or Reidii@adelphia.net. Thanks...

Work / Some questions about moving to Poland, I am to teach English [12]

Thanks for all of the help. I am going to post some questions about shipping in a bit. I am glad I found this forum. Really good information. I'll be out in September and I am looking to get moving. It's going to be big difference from South Florida though. What the hell!

Life / Shipping or taking goods with you on the plane to Poland [10]

Since I'll be in Poland for one year, I thought about shipping some stuff before I go. I know it is about $1.15 a pound U.S. Just being on the safe side so I don't have bring so much with me (in case it gets lost). It is supposed to take 6-8 weeks. Any experiences with shipping or any good ideas about logging a years worth of stuff?

Thanks,
Eddie

Life / Bringing American cash to Poland/banks, money, etc... [4]

Exchange rates. Do you think it would be best to exchange my American cash at the airport or at a local exchange. Would it be best to bring travellers checks? I will have a credit card with a debit, this is a visa with an account from Bank of America. I am just confused as to what would be the best way to bring my money over. Will this card work at a debit machine in Poland? Once again, any suggestions or help will be appreciated...

Thanks

Life / Cell phone options in Poland? [55]

Cell phones in Poland

Since I will be moving to Poland, I wanted to get a cell phone for local services. I have my phone from the states. Do you think it would be best to bring my phone from home and set up services or just buy one in Poland? Will they set up services through a verizon wireless? What are the average service prices and prices of a phone? Thanks for the help...

Life / Katowice: what do you think? [42]

What do you think of this city? I hear it is dirty and plain, but besides this - how do you find the people. I am thinking of finding a position in this city. I'd just like to hear some input? Anything that you'd like to say about the city.

Thanks...
