History / Complaint about Israel from Poland [22]

But isn't America and Israel two heads of the one beast?
Does America run Israel or does Israel run America?

USA, Canada / My personal (Polish) view on USA. [105]

I heard recently that 40% of American government revenue is spent on companies like Halliburton. No wonder there is no money left for normanl functions of government.

halliburton.com

Australia is a good place to live.
I know I've been here. :)

Anyone know the Polish population in Australia?
Australia is about the same size as America and has only 20 million people.
Average incomes are about $45000 p.a.

News / Polish/German/Russian relations [304]

Speaking as an Australian with no Polish ancestry (that I know of), but having read some polish history and talked with a lot of Poles; these issues of relations between Poland and its neighbours go back a long way. Polands borders have expanded and contracted many times over the centuries as Poland or Germany or Russia or Lithuania or another neighbour has been in an expansionist phase. These constant movements have caused on-going animosity between the neighbouring groups as well as leading to mixed populations in the areas that kept changing hands. Over-running a neighbour can only be justified if the neighbour is made out to be less than human, so the cultures of each of these countries have come to rubbish the national character of the others, stereotyping them in the most derogatory terms.

A part of this process, I believe a lot of countries have taken an opportunistic and mercenary approach to Poland. Russia and Germany are just two of them. What about Turkey who's empire reached as far as the Polish Ukraine in past centuries?

What about England? Poland helped Britain before WW2 and Britain betrayed Poland by not opposing Hitler's occupation, then in the battle of Britain, Polish aircraft and pilots made up much of the allied force.

There was a period in past centuries when Poland was indirectly over England in that England was paying tribute to Denmark and Denmark was paying tribute to the Polish King.

Poland is not a weak country, Poland once was bigger than Nazi Germany, just a bit further east. In WW2 Germany was defeated by Russia and who would say Germany was weak?

Of the eastern European countries subjected to the will of Russia I think Poland never lots its individuality. Is Poland a comunist country or a Catholic country? How soon after comunism colapsed and the world sees a Catholic pope?

I believe Poland is a strong nation with a great history.
joepilsudski - America is a cesspool of sexual perversion & the occult... too. Just look at Bohemian Grove.
Bad people are bad wherever they come from and some countries have more blood on their hands than others. Unfortunately there can be no REAL reparations. The harm can't be undone and the dead aren't coming back. Unfortunately also reparations can lead to further war.

Countries that live off plunder eventually fall. Plunder is bad economics.

Real Estate / I'm not Polish - can I buy a house in Poland ? [49]

I heard some years ago about a law that foreigners could buy a home in Poland.
But the restriction was that you could only buy one. I think from memory I was also told that you had to plan to live there too.

Can anyone conform if is or was true?
I personally could afford to migrate to Poland but would if I could. That is to say I would probably choose to rent first for a year see what it's like.

I have heard that Gdansk, Gdinia & Sopot are good place to live and have a good social life.
And Music festival.

Language / Polish Alphabet - prior to the arival of Christianity [5]

Does anyone have any information regarding the Polish alphabet prior to Christianity?
I have heard that the church decided it was pagan/bad and destroyed all records of the old alphabet.
