Life / Could I live on 2000zl in Poland? [30]

I have an internet website that I earn 400 uk pounds per month from, this roughly converts into 2000zl a month.

In the uk 400 pounds isn't enough to live on however I am considering moving to country such as Poland.

My question is could I survive on that kind of money? I would like to rent a small 1 bed flat and preferably live in a city.

Is it possible?

Basically if it was possible I would concentrate on building my internet business instead of working meaningless jobs just to pay the bills.

News / Microsoft Poland whitens a black face in its advert [130]

They do the same here in England. Despite what you see on TV there are still many parts of England which contain only white english people, my family live in Brightlingsea, black people and immigrants are unheard of there.

In the post office they have changed the pictures to show only white people, however in London where I live the post office has pictures with asians and blacks.

The reason they do it is to target marketing towards the correct local demographics, in multicultural parts of England companies tend to abide by diversity recommendations however in English only parts you will often see imagery of English locals as opposed to ethnic minorities.

I've even seen Polish parts of England which contains Polish people shown in advertising. If you are offended by this then chances are you don't really understand the concept of multiculturalism.

Life / Could I live on 2000zl in Poland? [30]

Thanks for the input so far. Here in England the cost of living is very high so many of us are used to budgeting, finding the cheapest deals etc. One thing I did notice in Poland was the cheap cafe's they have. You can get a basic meal for next to nothing.

Life / Could I live on 2000zl in Poland? [30]

Guys so am I correct in saying I want to be earning 2500zl? Obviously I want to have some kind of life, not just existing.

I've just had another look at my finances and I think I could scrape together 520 GBP which is 2500zl

What is Belarus like compared to Poland?

Love / Need help in relationship with a Polish man [33]

Firstly complaining about being tired is generally considered unacceptable in English culture, he might not be English but he's in the UK. Most girls I know would not put up with a tired man, no matter how many hours he does.

If he is tired then he should cut down his hours, if he doesn't have enough money then he should get a better job. It sounds like you are not from the UK but that doesn't mean you shouldn't expect the same high standard in men that the natives demand.

With regards to him not being able to learn English, he needs to go out and integrate with the locals, do you really want to be with a man who isn't confident?

We have Polish men drink in our local pub and they always speak English, sometimes it's not perfect but people don't mind because they are confident enough to try. If they were to all speak Polish amongst them selfs then the locals would dislike them.

Life / Most overpriced things in Poland? [72]

Aftershave/perfume - a great deal more expensive than in the UK.

When I visited Poland we was right near the border, we drove to the Ukraine to buy all our perfume. To be honest it was so much cheaper we decided to sell everything in Poland for a profit.

Life / I'm an American who lived in Poland for 6 years. I'm not welcome anymore. [169]

Europe is building a super continent, people can come to western countries like the UK to earn money and those with money can move to eastern countries so that their money goes further. As a Brit myself 5 years ago my mates used to turn their noses up at Poland thinking it was all dirt tracks with no electricity but nowdays those same people are visiting Poland and some are even considering moving there.

In Poland some may say "English investors are making Poland too expensive' or in England "they are taking our jobs" but you need to look at the bigger picture, we will end up with a richer Europe.

Don't let nationalism cloud progress, after all we are all Europeans, we're not that different.

Life / Questions about Torun? [18]

I spent about a month in Torun with 2 Polish mates. If you are after nightlife the town in Buzzing, we used to go to kredens (not sure if its spelt right) a lot. There's loads of bars, clubs, shops and the town is very picturesq. At night it's all lit up, if you cross the river you will see an amazing view.

We did find a really cheap cafe that serves Polish food. Turned out it was actually cheaper to go here than buy the ingredients and cook ourselfs.

The town itself is a student town the people are very friendly, I remember loosing my mates at about 3am and just walked into the next bar and made friends with a group of Polish students, I had no money but they brought me beers and we stayed up drinking until 5am when the pub closed.

The dance clubs in Torun tend to be more adventurous with the music compared to the UK, you'll hear more electro and obscure remixes played.

Everybody speaks English although it's always fun to try and speak Polish when dealing with shops and pubs. Be carefull when saying the word "please" in Polish, it turned out for the first day I was saying pig!

We spent new years in Torun and they had a massive street party, everybody came outside for the countdown, there was loads of street performers and music.

The vibe in Torun is something that I'll never forget, I missed the place for months when I came home.

I've visited a lot of cities including Poznan and Warsaw and I would definitely say Torun is the best.

When visiting Poland I always think it's better to go with some Poles, that way the locals don't see you as a group of British louts on the lash. I remember one Polish bloke said "Typical brits getting drunk" our Polish mate said "it's ok, they are with us" at which point the bloke apologised.

You must have been going to the wrong clubs then, all the clubs I used to go to played grime, dubstep, UKG, hip-hop, R&B and bashment :)

Of course, the UK is the home of dubstep, grime and UKG although I was referring to the commercial chain clubs like liquid.

How? How is mass immigration, job displacement, and money being sent out of the UKs economy, good for the UK? Good for Poland, yes. UK, no.

Because a large percentage of immigrants remain in the UK. The aim of the government is to have business conducted here in Britain. I know a large number of property developers who would have gone out of business had the manual labour market not been propped up by immigrants. If you think Poles sending money out of the UK affects our economy then you do not understand basic economics.

This extra GDP from the big guns outweighs rising unemployment and benefits costs making Britain richer. The country makes far more money paying an immigrant worker minimum wage than it does a native top dollar, why? because the higher business profits pay much more to the country in the form of tax. If that immigrant remained here and claimed benefits for the rest of his life, we would still be in profit.

The job displacement due to overimmigration is a temporary situation, it may affect the unemployed but it has a reverse effect on the country. If you're at the bottom, the government now allows you to claim tax credits to top up your earnings, what other country do you know that gives so much back to its citizens. Even in recession we can still afford to do this!

I trade on the financial markets so I've seen first hand the positive effects immigration has had on the British economy. The recession we are in is not related to immigration. In some respects we owe a lot to Eastern Europe for saving our country, in ten years time you will see Britain will be without a shadow of a doubt the richest country in Europe.

The post war Asian immigration wave turned our country into one of the richest economies in the World. Our investment in Asian and the Far east markets makes Britain trillions of pounds, even today.

Stop reading the daily mail, and start looking at the figures.
