Life / Expensive brand retail outlets in Poland - how do they survive? [19]

I know a number of people(read pretty young women) who work in high-end stores in centres such as Browar.

You are entirely right they are not busy, but there are wealthly individuals who make substantial purchases of 10000zl in a visit.

The margin on designer product is amazing, so although it would undoubtably be better to be a bit busier they do quite well.

I wouldnt spend too much time worrying about how mega-brand stores make ends meet...they do extraordinarily well!!

Life / Polish Train Travel - Scary? [101]

Jane2009

An obvious point- 1 event does not make it more or less safe than other places. Best to rely on fact- I've travelled extensively around Russia never are a problem. Are rail journeys around russia "safe"? Nope.

It is what they call in english anecdotal!

News / Daffy and Donald aka Lech and Jarosław Kaczyński together on tape, thoughts? [26]

The Kaczynski's get a bad press in liberal europe because they defend Polish values.. the right not to promote homosexuality and abortion as just a "normal" event are such examples.

They are far from perfect but they speak for the silent decent majority...

Sad that so many get fooled by the western press, even worse that Poland is being dragged into the morally bankrupt age... when drugs, prostitution and the desertion of family values are acceptable.

Love / How Many Dates Before Sex in Poland? [86]

People may confused into thinking that shelleys tale of cider in the park sex is fantasy...

Try any number of slum cities and towns in the UK on Friday and Saturday nights it is a normal way of life for working class 14 year olds...

Love / How Many Dates Before Sex in Poland? [86]

not just a few teenage pregnancies...You are stupid!

The Office for National Statistics 2008 data showed just over 42,900 conceptions in under 18s in UK

The UK has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe, with an estimated 52% abortion rate for teenage pregnancies under 17..

If thats not broken I dont know what is... the 15th richest country in the world surely cant blame poverty for being morally bankrupt..

Sorry to dispel your angry lies .. call me names if it makes you feel better about this, though you only make yourself look idiotic

News / Why are Polish politicians so bad at accepting bribes? [17]

Miroslaw Drzewiecki is the latest in a long line of Polish politicians to be caught red handed...

The question is why do we routinely see them caught so easily with bundles of cash or taped phone calls?

Corruption is endemic in a fair proportion of the world, yet other folk seem to understand the rules.. off-shore bank accounts and no direct contacts...

Surely it isnt rocket science to take bungs!

Getting caught being bent isnt wrong, its plain stupid in the 21st Century..

News / Why are Polish politicians so bad at accepting bribes? [17]

So a 10 year stretch for proven corruption could be an answer seanus...

Unfortunately corruption is a way of life here- visiting Govt offices for various legal paperwork is a good example... you are quoted 2 months or 2 days depending on how helpful you can be for them

News / Why are Polish politicians so bad at accepting bribes? [17]

Agree seanus . So a 5 year stretch for those soliciting bribery and those accepting.

Unfortunately difficult to prove beyond reasonable doubt-the legal defence teams would have a field day making up reasons why 2 guys so happened to be a room together with 200tys zl in an envelope.....

News / Are Poles happy about the impending Federal states of Europe? [20]

With Mr Kaczynski playing around before eventually giving in to signing it off,The ratification of the Lisbon Treaty makes exciting steps for the federal model of the EU.

1 Currency, 1 President, 1 Language, 1 Vision.

All good news.

But wait a minute..

the EU accounts have failed for 14 years in a row-if you ran a company like that you'd be in jail for fraud.

The apparatus of the EU commission and council removes any democracy at all- many of the top brass will never be held to account by the public.

In a federal Europe , Germany,France and UK will have huge power over the rest with majority voting.. with so many countries spending decades under oppression, who wants to volunteer to be ruled over again?

Federal Europe is coming like it or not, but what do people think?

News / What is the future of Catholic church in Poland. [154]

What is the future of Catholic church in Poland.

Simple answer to this. No future.

Terminal decline.

Liberal forces are squeezing morality and family life out of Poland.

Soon it will be like UK- anything goes, broken society beyond all recognition.

Sad really, but people vote with their feet.

News / BNP far right in Poland [116]

Sense of humour failure was it Harry?

Harry is a loose cannon at the best of times, as Lesser so rightly points out he doesnt have a firm grip of the facts either.

Perhaps he can illuminate us into what is so wrong about refusing to promote homosexuality in society?

It seems to be a feature of ultra liberals such as Harry that everyone else is wrong if they refuse to follow the ultra liberal line, but seemingly unable to elucidate why people should believe in an 'anything goes' value-free and moral-free system..

What gets overlooked and lost in this is that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice.

Many things are lifestyle choices-examples being covered in tattoos and piercings, being vegan, to extra marital affairs and whole array of things in between of varying degrees of extremism.

This is all fair play. The world is full of choices and freedoms and that is a great thing.

However, we dont indulge each of these radical lifestyle choices with state-led promotion and some crusade for equality.... we dont force restaurants into providing vegan meals or tell employers that all body stylings are acceptable.

Yet we are happy to do this for homosexuality.

The ultra liberal PC brigade champion this cause. But why should it be the defacto position?

I could choose to have mistresses but this does not mean I require the state to permit and condone such behaviour..

Unless you can cite even one iota of hard evidence that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice.

Thats a good flip... because there is not one iota of evidence to prove homosexuality in humans is anything but a lifestyle choice.

It is naive to think these organisations are not under large external pressures to make the "right" answers in reports... the large pro-gay lobby in USA wields substantial power and wealth as you may well know.
