Work / 4000 zloty Wroclaw - what kind of life can I expect for that? [20]

Hi,

I got an offer from Poland to work at an international company for 4300 zloty a month. I do not have too high expectations from my lifestyle, an okay flat, some food and maybe some fun every now and then (movies, bar etc.). Will I manage with 4300?

Anybody can manage on the salary, but make sure you are not being 'cheated'

Well, I'dd like to think I am not, of cource. The thing is I am just graduating and have not soooo much great work experience and the job is at entry level.

For me managing means getting some food but not necessarely the most expensive cheese, going out once a week to cinema or for a beer or two, I do not need to travel outside the city that much (wont have holidays anyways), being able to buy a pair of shoes and a top on the same month etc.

Life / Finding a flat, relocation to Poland etc. [5]

Hi!

I am moving to Wroclaw this summer and was wondering is my hope of finding a flat before hand silly. I am willing to live a couple of days at hostel but would like to have a flat there waiting. Is it possible to arrange it from another country. Naturally it would mean not seeing the flat.. And I guess getting fooled might be possible?

Has any of you done it like this? I also found a polish relocation office. Has anyone used them? What do you think about them? prolocation.com.pl

And about these pages where they have some flats with pics and details. Have you ever contacted them and got any answer? I do not speak polish btw.

Oh, thank you every one so much! Although I have travelled a lot and have a bicultural background, I am so clueless cause I know nothing of Poland. Well, first hand at least..

But so far I have to say that all the flats I've found on the Internet are so fancy! I do not really need such a flat. A bit more modest (cheaper) option would be better..

How do you think it will be with a dog? Is it difficult to find a flat where they allow pets?

Life / Do dogs need a muzzle in Poland? [10]

Hi!
my dog always walks on a leash. She in general is quite a nice dog but sometimes does not really like all the other dogs and gets angry. Is that a reason to wear a muzzle on her? Is it mandatory by law? Some people give me bad looks when my dog raises hell sometimes but she is on a leash and the other dog has come to us. I just feel like it is not fair on my dog if she sometimes gets angry (really not always) and has to wear a muzzle because of other dogs coming to sniff her..

Well, my dog is a rather small mixer. Do you mean to tell me that even if another dog, running freely, comes to sniff and my dog gets angry, they get into a fight and it is our fault? By law? Biting and getting angry is not always the same thing. She has never really bitten anyone... And we live in Wroclaw.

Could be. She was a timid puppy and I might have been too pushy with her..meaning trying too much to take her to new places and see new things. Also some grown up dogs were too eager to play and run after her when she was a puppy. So maybe all my fault. The thing is that she still behaves normally, is even playfull with some dogs, so muzzle seems too harsh on her. Especially since I have her on a leash, she is quite small and not angry at everyone.

Today we just got some bad looks when she got angry at one dog...

I don't know. Just feel like going out with the dog is a new stress factor even though it is supposed to be fun. Feel quite bad about this thing.

If I may ask another question, related to dogs. How do the polish people raise their dogs. They seem to be in general so well behaved and do not run here and there. I asked someone and she said she talks to the dog, whatever that means but also implied that physical punishment is quite widely used..(?)
