Work / Living on the certain income in Poland [30]

Hello all friends,
I will soon start to live in Warsaw. I am in IT Business, I found a job in a multinational company. My gross salary will be around 13 000 PLN monthly. I am typical IT guy and I really don't have high life standards.

Can I save 3000-4000 PLN for a month with this salary ? How much should I consider as my monthly living cost ?

Your explanations will be very very helpfull.

Thanks.

Th

ou can save much more than, everything depends what you mean by not having high life standards.

Thank you Gregorz. Not having high standards for me means, I generally spend my time at home, I can cook my meals. I go out only once or twice in a month. Generally I don't spend too much.

How much do you think a furnished 1+1 flat or studio in a safe area cost me in Warsaw ?

Work / Need help about employment process in Poland [23]

Hello All,
I accepted an job offer from Poland. My problem is everything proceeding too slow.

Inıtially I was in contact with same companies's headquarters in different country in Europe. It was nice and fast. Now I am trying to deal with a HR person in Warsaw office. She rarely reply my e-mails,(Sometimes she say she didn't receive them) Many times I can't reach her by phone. And It is taking weeks for every single step and I am not getting logical answers for my questions. She's saying all the time she's so busy etc.

Now I am in work permit stage. She will make the application but I worry it can take a year with her.

What should I do ?
Any suggestion or similar experiences would be helpful.

Do you have any contact with your new boss , who maybe can assist you with
HR ? If so, then send him a copy of your fax and/or email for information and make sure that the fax and/ or email going to the HR shows that you have sent a copy of same to your new boss ?

Thank you Lir,
I don't know her manager, I contacted with several times with her colleagues (who are at least faster and I am able to get some answers from them) in headquarters. It seems they are protecting her or maybe they are in same organizationl level and can't say something to her.

I am told start date will be set after work permit. I'll hopefully talk to her next week again and insist on to set a start date and express my complaints again.

To be honest I am also indecisive about to send something to her boss. I really want the job and I think she can manipulate people against me who she knows very well and I don't know at all.

I am trying to resolve the issue as peaceful as possible.

Thank you all who write answers...

[

Maybe she dosn't speak / write English fluently and communication with you isn't easy for her? :D

She is fluent. I made an interview with her.

My theory there may be a conflict between her and Headquarters. I made most of the interviews with headquarters and accepted by them.

She may not be happy about that.

I've already complain in formal way. I've stated several times it's going too slow. They said it all depend on her now and they have nothing to do. But the people I've complained is at same level with her.

I'll try to be patient a little bit more and if I won't see any improvement I'll try to contact with her or manager or my future manager.

As you can see I am very confused and also scared to lose the opportunity because of such a nonsense.

Work / Need help about employment process in Poland [23]

I thought that if you knew your new boss ( the person who you will be reporting too or who will manage you ) then there would be no harm in sending him a copy of your fax/ email .

I only talked to him once 4 months ago. Till then I am only in contact with HR people. So it may be strange to send something to him.

Anyway I'll do as much as I can to make things faster. Let's see what will happen.

I am waiting impatiently to start my new life in Warsaw.

Work / Need help about employment process in Poland [23]

Tricky situation. Personally I would try to cover my bases and continue to look for other work just in case this falls through or takes too long. You may well find something else/better in the time it takes her to sort out your contract.....

I am currently working in my home country. Bad thing about my current job I travel too much and I am really tired about this. Except her everything was very nice with the company and offer was good. It may be very hard to find a similar job because of global economical crysis.

Unfortunately I experience the above on a regular basis. The only thing you can do is keep on at her, or threaten to speak to her superiors.

I am trying to do that. But she behave like everything is normal and I am trying to squeeze her because of nothing.

Don't be scared to act angry. hurt, bitter, vindictive or throw a childish tantrum. In any civilised country this would mark you out as an immature loser unworthy of anything other than the acting profession but in Poland it is often the best way to get service from bjurwas.

Still haven't heard anything from her. Maybe I should follow your advice. I am getting out of patience.

Real Estate / Good Places to Live in Warsaw [21]

I'll also move to Warsaw after 3-4 months. My office will be around Domaniewska. I started to look for some apartments from internet. Suggestions about safe, easy-to-travel (to Domaniewska) and cheap areas will be highly appreciated.

Love / Love my polish girlfriend alot but under pressure from family [166]

Shelleys & Morella It seems there is a personal weakness and I am mostly agree with your comments.

lovewithpolish your choise will not be between the girl and the family, you must first decide if you manage to direct your life or what do you really want to do.

I am also Turkish and Muslim and In our country it is even hard to impose a local girl from different lifestyle to the family. But If you are decisive enough and capable of making your decisions In most cases it won't be a problem.

I am also not very religious but even in Quran there is no restriction to marry with christian or jewish girls.

Unfortunately people who lives under islamic influence most of the times has some kind of lack of self confidence. I hope we will get rid of this in Turkey completely after some more years.

Mephias, Do u really believe what u said?:) You know the reality as well as me.There r families u can never ever persuade for such marridge.

I really believe and I also have an example in my family and saw many other examples from my friends. Of course there are families you can never persuade. But it is extreme condition you can see in any nation or religion.

Yeah, u can persuade some families with a condition '' wife will convert religion to İslam'' . :) Really Funny!

First you must be more respectful. I think this comments is about your point of view of reality or maybe you only have knowledge about underdeveloped areas of Turkey.

What I am trying to explain if you really decided to do something, if you want to live your life you can persuade your family this won't be a problem. They'll anyway respect your decision because They'll also won't want to lose you. It all depends how brave you are.

And the problem of lovewithpolish is not his family. There is even no pressure as he even haven't told the situation to his family.

What is my comments connection with being unrespectful?

Only saying "funny" is unrespectful.

showed another common property of turks

Why are you doing this much generalization ? This thread is about a specific problem of a person and You have nothing to say about the issue and only making tones of generalizations. Some of them may be true but in most cases generalization won't help people to know what is good and it leads people to wrong directions like racism.

No other solution is available for his situation

Ok We separated only at this point. In my opinion it is quite possible to convince his family if he really wants it (Of course this depends on character of him). Of course this is my opinion.

So to avoid Racism we should keep hiding our bad sides or discuss on them and try to change them?

We should try to change it personally. We can only blame person who is responsible for every individual incident. We should avoid blaming nations because of individual mistakes again in my opinion.

I love my country but hate how some people prejudice against us living in western
country

I am very sorry lovewithpolish. You are right it is really such a prejudice and your situation is quite different than what it is supposed to be. And I think it is also very good proof that shows it is never true to reach a point with generalizations.

But again I think you should try your luck with your parents. Anyway you are their children and they may be more considerate about your situation than you thought.

Why everyone so offensive against him ? He is at least trying to find a solution. Even writing someting on this forum is a good sign.

It seems the men who leave their girl friends or who is indecisive about the relationship executed in Poland :).

Is this something never happening between Polish couples ?

I am sure not...

Work / Need help about employment process in Poland [23]

Now I need help on another issue.

I am currently waiting for residence permit and working in my current company, after I got residence permit I'll apply to Polish Embassy in my country, If they approve I'll get residence permit and I have to go to Poland to get the work permit.

And the company which offered me a job can only officially sign a contract with me after I get the work permit.

Problem is when should I notify my current company officially ?

First option is I may assume there won't be any problem to get the work permit after I got the residence from Polish Embassy and notify my company while I am in my country and I may move Poland once after notification period. But I'll be in trouble If I can't get the permit as I leave my current job.

Second option, I may use my leave to move to Poland for work permit and I propose a start date which is one month later after I got the work permit and I can return and wait for notification period. Less risky but boring option.

What is your suggestion ?

Still no reply Should I ask this to my future employer ?

Work / Need help about employment process in Poland [23]

You are right but even if there is a delay like one or two month it won't be a big problem.

However it would be a big problem if polish authorities deny to give me a work permit or someone from company change their mind after I got the residence which are very unlikely to happen.

Well you've answered your own question. Up to you if you want to take the risk of whether you papers are done on time. What happens if your work permit is delayed because of some random problem or they 'lose' your paperwork?

Today I notified my current company. They don't get it negatively and show very mature approach, they said even in case of any problem on residence & work permit they will be happy to continue with me. Now there is no risk ..., I am very relaxed.

The company applied for my work permit two months ago. Today I asked and they said it can take 2-3 weeks more.

Is this period normal ? Is there any possibility (or any case that you experienced) that Polish Authorities don't give the permission ?

News / Zloty goes down, good news for ex-pats in Poland [18]

It's very bad for me. I got a job offer from Poland 3 months ago and offered salary was Zloty which goes down around % 20 against euro and I am still waiting for residence permit. It's a multinational company.

Should I ask for a increase in the salary before start ?

Does it have a effect on Living cost in Poland ?

What is the expectation for zloty in coming months ?

News / Zloty goes down, good news for ex-pats in Poland [18]

You are right but in negotiation phase I tried for a salary on Euro base but they did not accept.

And it won't really problem for me if it doesn't effect cost of living in Poland at same level ( around % 20 )

The problem is it may not be a kind behaviour to ask for a change after they apply for work permit and everything was set. So most probably I won't do this.

News / Zloty goes down, good news for ex-pats in Poland [18]

What happened in Poland yesterday ? It's more like a devaluation and the decrease in offered salary again decrease around % 10. Is it all because global crysis ?

In this case I think I should ask for an adjustment before start because after this currency changes (Before that it was % 30 more ) offered salary is nearly lesser than my current salary.

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

It's really sad event and people who commit this crime must be punished same way.

On the other hand its America's policy to strenghten extremists against liberals in Islamic
countries. America never want democracy or liberal policies in these countries. I think America believe it's easier to direct or conquer these places if they are on the hands of this kind of idiots.

Al-qaeda and Taliban are god damn fanatics and what they are doing is their own cruelty
it is not something that can be thought islamic.

You are right, also there are so few in the "Eastern" society so this should not be used to blame all easterners or muslims.

Also muslims are not a particulary complicated breed either.

Islam is also vary in very broad range from region to region. Lovewithpolish is from Bangladesh (not a Pakistani or Arab). His situation may be different than it's thought. I think he don't deserve this much offense. Negative comments in this thread is more like prejudice.

ulture and religion aside, if i was put in his situation i'd have a good moment digesting the problem then have an honest talk with either my folks or my lady and stick with one side instead of trying to eat a cake and shit on a cake.

I also agree it is what he should do. I hope he'll be capable of doing this.

Love / My Polish boyfriend and his drinking habit. [60]

How old is he ? When I was in early twenties, I was drinking like that without any reason. Even I lost a girlfriend because of that. Now I am around thirty and I drink repsonsibly. It was a youth stupidity for me. It was also fun for that ages I am not very regretful.

Of cours it could be worse if I was addicted.

Love / How can a black man get a Polish women [248]

"What we need is a great big melting pot
...And keep it stirring for a hundred years or more
And turn out coffee coloured people by the score".

Also climate has an obvious effect on skin colour on very long term. So maybe after global warming it may be dark brown for everybody or if we live a new ice age everyone may be white.

And I think the all black or white future people would think only if our ancestors would be wise enough to understand there is nothing to do with skin colour and would be capable of making the world more enjoyable and peaceful place.

History / Why communism failed in Poland? [275]

I agree with SeanBM, communism is against to human nature.

I've attended projects in three former soviet union countries. Local employee's were really brilliant and clever guys but there was always same problem, they never wanted to take responsibility on any issue and They weren't hard working.

I think it's side effect of communism. In communist system they already have a job and they don't need to do something to keep it or they don't have any chance to go up. So best thing is just hanging around.

I hope it's different in Poland.
