Law / Looking to open Vodka Booth in Poland [16]

I still think this is a good idea. I'd love a sly peach vodka on the way to work :) There's nothing quite like choice :)

News / Russia and Poland possibility of the alliance [75]

Many English took a dislike to the Turks as a result of football violence. In Scotland, we tend to be fairly neutral, enjoying their kebabs. Albanians, we just see them as poor as that is what we are fed.

Blair??? He left office quite a while ago. Brown you mean? The Scots would have told Blair to shove it. I can't imagine the Scots wanting to fight Serbs. There's no need! I guess Celtic Scots would side with Serbia against Turkey and Albania but most Scots wouldn't think about such things too much.

News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

First point, Sokrates. Do you know the difference between ownership and possession?

Second point, ever heard of the Hippocratic Oath? How about the Helsinki Code?

I also tend to move towards the anti-abortion side but my judgements would likely be more flexible than yours.

Food / Poland and the Juice [35]

I'd love a Tymbark tap/faucet. Fresh and light juice for the summer, free flowing.

Who are you to define a woman's sole purpose? Any good human being should be free to live a life of adventure, full of experiences and rich in different purposes.

Should I be calling you Brian right about now? ;) ;)

What kind of education did you get, Sokrates? For starters, getting rid of an embryon is not murder as there is not mens rea to murder and it's a kid to be, not even a baby yet.

And what if the condom bursts, LAGirl, what then? What about rape cases?

Torq, I meant to say that they are maybe more tolerant as people but practise other facets of the RCC, without taking a hardline.

Not at all with your comment on religion. In English we say that sb follows a religion blindly at the expense of using their own judgement. That's all freebird was trying to say. It's a question of degree and he was right, trust me on that.

Food / Poland and the Juice [35]

I'll drink some good non-Polish juice to that, Osioł. Some of the Tymbark is great I must say. The peach one is thirst-quenching for sure.

Torq, you completely missed the point. Such a simple statement which can hardly be misinterpreted and you/lesser managed it.

Freebird was talking about exercising your own judgment, without the need to follow the dictates of religion.

The Czech Republic is over 1/4 Roman Catholic yet they are the country which support abortion the most. Maybe they are just more tolerant and actually practise Catholicism more.

Let me guess, Polish gravel is better than everyone else's too, right? Yeah, go and boast about the superior quality of the bark on the trees.

Yeah, Fortuna and Tymbark are good but I've tried much better.

When your narrow little world is all you know, that tends to blur the picture.

News / Russia and Poland possibility of the alliance [75]

Well, I know an American who went and he enjoyed it. I can't remember the city, sth beginning with P, Pritt or sth like that. I think Albanians, like most nations, will have a healthy respect for a Scotsman :)

Is it really that bad, Crow? I'm sure they'd find sth to attack me for being Scottish too. Is Skopje (Macedonia) pretty safe? I'm going there too

Well, I'm off to the Balkans next week. I guess that I'll have positive contact with people from all the countries I go to.

I imagine that Albanians will be fine too but no thanks to Mujas. Muslim fanatics are not welcome.

Travel / Places to visit near Czech border, help please. [27]

There are a couple of nice bars on both sides. The local beer, Brackie, is good for those that like sweet beers of the Warka Strong ilk. On the Czech side, they have a couple of great places with jukeboxes.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

Some have contributed to the increase in crime and social problems for sure but the bigger issue is with more long-standing disputes between Pakistanis and Blacks. They are largely responsible for the complications.

News / Are there any active Mafias in Poland? [27]

Well, I see some mafia dudes here in Gliwice but I don't know their group name. The infamous areas for this are Pruszków and Wołomin, near Warsaw.

Life / Culture Shock Since Moving to Poland - Anybody Dealt With This Before? [52]

I am also adaptable and I see things as an adventure. Trust me, Japan was much more of a culture shock than Poland. In most ways imaginable. Still, I sympathise with the gentleman. We are not robots and cannot stride into new situations willy-nilly without finding your feet and learning the ropes. No offence to Poland but things were picked up rather quickly for me. It works both ways. Still, Poland does offer novel approaches to certain things and this can spark interest rather than trigger the blues.

To the author of the thread, keep an open mind and try and use your options to the maximum extent. Poland can be stale if you make it but life can have punch here.
