History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

The Silesian Uprisings (German: Aufstände in Oberschlesien; Polish: Powstania śląskie) were a series of three armed uprisings of the Poles of Upper Silesia, from 1919–1921, against Weimar rule; the resistance hoped to break away from Germany in order to join the Second Polish Republic, which had been established in the wake of World War I. In the latter-day history of Poland after World War II, the insurrections were celebrated as centrepieces of national pride.

Yeah well...you now have it...Deutsch rein.

6 Mill dead Poles later....good deal won't you agree?

Could it be that you are a closet Slav?

What is it with you guys putting me as as slav.

You can't make all Germans to slavs...there MUST be also some Germans you know????

:)

so if you are true German ... it was right you were expeled because it was slavic ground before "large ethnic German population" apeared in XVIII century

Hmmm...."slavic ground"?
Reminds about "Blut and Boden" speak of the Nazis...
And you approve of ethnic cleansings!
And you call ME a Nazi! LOL

And what is so hard to understand in:

"....although it had been used for many centuries before by the large ethnic German population....

Means: Many centuries before the XVII...come on...can't be that hard!

Quoting: Bratwurst Boy
...The next chapter in the city's colourful history began in 1741 when King Frederick the Great II seized Lower Silesia and brought it under Prussian rule. It was he who officially gave the city its German name of Breslau (or Prezzla), although it had been used for many centuries before by the large ethnic German population. Wroclaw spent the next two hundred years in German hands and by the end of the 19th century it was the third largest Prussian city behind Berlin and Hamburg, and began to be heavily industrialised. ..."My grandparents did marry here...as Germans!

yes yes but hisotry of silesia havent started in XVIII century ... :)

Okay...again:

"....although it had been used for many centuries before by the large ethnic German population...."

- A degenerate - liar, pervert, psychopath. A nice example to follow. Actually, Hitler felt to have been his political-'spiritual' inheritor. <SPIT>

Yeah...well..."THE GREAT" must be earned somehow....:)
(Even if it's only the second "The Great"....the second greatest so to speak)

like BB who is slav and think that he is German

Ummm...now that is interesting.

When I remember all the troubles my ancestors got through to get the Arier-Nachweis (showing their heritage centuries back) needed to make an officers career in the german army....when they in truth were all slavs!!

(Maybe they were even Jews without knowing it???)

Oh wonder...*makes big eyes*

PS: I have nothing against those few Poles buying land in Germany...but it goes both ways and THAT is important! :)

PPS: And I LOVE to tell you about the coming center....you hate it so much! :):):)
(I would even also prefer a center IN Danzig...directly under your nose!)

as to Polonisation/Germanisation/Russyfication ask Ukrainians and Lithuenians why do they prefere Poles than Russians and Germans ...

I'm not sure about that...many Ukrainians want to get into the german led EU...(but we won't let them)...and I remember seeing photos of ukrainian peasants with flowers greeting the Wehrmacht...I wonder why....

esspecialy when we look on the fact that we started to buy Eastern Germany :)

You did???

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germanisation

You are one to talk...at least WE LET YOU LIVE THERE...the facts speak clearly!
Millions of Poles lived BESIDES Germans in this land!

Actually most of that stuff you bring is propaganda only!

You know what I find when I read your stuff?

POLONIZATION...goooood!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polonization

"...can be seen as an example of cultural assimilation."

GERMANIZATION/RUSSIFICATION....baaaaaad!

"...mostly forcible assimilationist policies, implemented by other European powers that have aspired to regional dominance."

What a way of words you Poles have...

Excuse me for asking, but doesn't this museum recognize displacement of other peoples in Europe as well, or is that just besides the point?

Yes...and yes (I fear)....

Germany in October 1938 urged the Danzig territory's cession to Germany. Not surprisingly, Danzig repeatedly refused to negotiate its status

That's funny...all Danziger wanted "Heim ins Reich"...as Hitler drove into the town the people flipped in extasy!

.
.
.

Wow..."Kulturkampf"...how horrible!
Especially as half of the country is protestant (Prussia too)...
Every time has it's "Kulturkampf"!

History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

I dont know Bratwurst if you remember fact that Germans just after 1939 expeled all Poles form Gdańsk (before the war there was mix) so in 1945 ... you had to go home ...

Total population by language, November 1, 1923

German: 95,03%
Polish: 3.28%

(what a "mix" that was)
And tell me more about those "expellations"...had all 3 percent to go?
At once?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_City_of_Danzig

Danzig was german since 1308 till 1945, fo more than 600 years, over a half of a millenia.

I think you Poles now squatting in Danzig for barely 60 years should have no problems to pack your bags either, right? To go home...

If I didn't know better it seems as if Germany is adding salt in a wound just to get attention.

It's an open wound for many Germans...no need to add salt.
Quite to the contrary..the denying of the Poles...those tries to talk it down, to make excuses etc. THAT is not helping.

You know...around 2000 years back all what is now Poland was
germanic lands...we are the rightful ownwers and we should get it all back!
(Without those Poles of course)

Germania

Returned to its rightful owners.

So you agree with ethnic cleansing, yes?

only in part of our history it was called Danzig, originaly name is Gdańsk and now it is Gdańsk again ...

But what a part this was:

No...falkster...you are definitely not suffering from to much education or we wouldn't have this discussion right now!

There is also not a controversy about the Expellation at all...IT HAPPENED....more than 12 Million victims are proof of that!
People you don't care about!

okay... now it's getting ridiculous.

What's ridiculous? Tell me oh you wise one...
Where do you think a big chunk of all this support money Poland is getting comes from?
Germany is the biggest net-contributor in the EU...

well...
doesn't that show that there are not sooo many people interested in that part of history??

Sure...this Holocaust museum in Berlin was also just build because nobody is really interested in the Holocaust!
Say...falkster...where did you get this kind of logic and can I have some??? :)

do you think air atacks on Germany were genocide ?

Nope...
A war crime yes...but not a genocide.

The next centre built should be dedicated to the German Nation as a whole. I would call it: The plight of Germans - Jewish Reparations and Restitutions Centre.

Yeah...well...we managed inspite of all this paying.
I mean we even pay right now millions for other EU countries (also Poland) and still we manage somehow....
You are right, that is definitely worthy of a monument! :)

might be. but the controversy about it shows clearly that not everybody in germany agrees with it... and more importantly that it is not representative for a general change in german politics or our dealing with our past.

That might be of interest for you (there far away in England):

"Die Flucht" erfolgreichster ARD-Film seit 10 Jahren
Insgesamt 13,55 Millionen Zuschauer sahen im Ersten und bei Arte den ersten Teil des Geschichts-Dramas. Für die beiden Sender ist der Zweiteiler ein voller Erfolg.

welt.de/fernsehen/article746537/Die_Flucht_erfolgreichster_ARD-Film_seit_10_Jahren.html

Germans are VERY interested in that chapter of our history!
Another sign how important that center will be....

The first time this theme was made the center of a movie and more then 13 Million people saw it!
Making it the most successfull production in 10 years!

"Just some backward thinking people are interested"...my ass....you have so no idea!

to get the heck out of dodge,, if it meant my familys life threatened,, and there was
a way to leave .

I think people (those) who choose to turn their cheek and not see probably
realized how crazy he was.. he tried to isolate Germany from the world While
trying to take over Europe and he knocked on US doors, but we came knockin
back... I know this isnt something you dont know.. but my perception of it makes
me wonder the above Post about why they wish for the Reich when the results are
clear,, no criminals because they were gassed along with the other millions of good
people.. Jews /Poles/French/ etc.. mostly je

No Pat...
Being a father of a family living in political insecurity and daily turmoil and with no work, your money worthless, hungry and hopeless...
Germany was already isolated through the Treaty of Versailles (no membership allowed in the League of Nation, no foreign assets, occupied Rhineland, Alsace, Sudetenland, Austria...etc.)

There lived around 800.000 Jews in the whole of Germany, less than 1 percent so most Germans never ever met a Jew.
The Gassing wasn't even planned yet.

Put yourself into the shoes of an ordinary family father which get's now the prospect of a for him better life.
I doubt you would think in the first place of leaving....

BTW I told you that he is going to prove everything ...

What am I proving?

You know Luki...you are trying my patience!

okay... and as "good" germans we have to agree with everything OUR country (gov or other institution (ie authority)) does?

Crap!
What riled me was that you tried to sell the center as a neglected obsession by a tiny minority with you of course being the accepted voice! (From England no less)

Everybody has an ********** opinion. Nobody HAS to do what the gov wants.
But I'm very much in favour of that center and I have many people with me and it WILL be build, the decision already fallen!
