USA, Canada / a little question about dollar [19]

but how long you can keep your currency overvalued?the example of argentina showed that keeping your currency at the rate of 1:1to dollar isn't very good for a country:(

News / English vs. Polish hostility [323]

they were different times, my parents came to oz in the late 40's, where there was a shortage of labour ie no unemployment

the same situation as in the uk now.there is only about 4% of unemployment in england now.the only people who don't find a job here are complete loosers, drunkards, drug addicts, asylum seekers and only some who genuinely can't find a job.

make your fortune overnight, it took a lot of luck and hard work.

i've been here on and off for 5 years and worked up to 90 hours a week is it not hard work lef?

I personally think that polish people should be more grateful to the english for accepting them with open arms.

i am very greatful but i think this bussines is profitable for both sides.i know that there are a lot of ignorant idiots in the uk who don't appreciate british hospitality but what can you do lef, kill them all?

understand why poles don't opt for oz as skilled labour is in demand especially in western australia (money is excellent)

money is not everything lef.going to oz would mean a huge change in our lives.england is closer and we feel here at home.however most of us will go back to poland sooner or later-it's easier to do it from the uk.

At the end of the day the poles who return home will end up working for a couple of thousand zlotes a month and return to a country that hasn't changed much. Won't that be a shock to the system

poland is a great country.it survived far worse things

Polonia / I'd like to go to Mexico... [47]

What kind of wildlife are you hoping to see?

i hope to see some birds there.:)

Because it is not peak season

i thought that was due to some sudden change in the weather.i wouldn't like to go there if the temp was below 20 degrees:(

flight in Feb. is only $235 and the flight in March is $430;

2 weeks in mexico cost 1300-1400£ (all inclusive)and only 650£ in june

Life / Solidarnosc Tattoo - is it a good choice? I have Polish ancestry. Symbols, ideas, heritage. [31]

Hej Rafik... how am i showing off?

ok my apologies. i thought you are one of the poles who think that speaking polish is the only thing that may show your strong feelings towards Poland. i also had a few arguments with some people here who said that because my grammar errors i should not be saying anything in english so that i am a bit over sensitive.i do appreciate you are learning polish.however it could be not his fault that he doesn't speak polish.you don't know the story. i just welcome everyone who wants to come back to their roots.that's all.

his choice of solidarnosc sign is very good and i think that you are right N that before doing a tattoo, which will last forever on his body he should know the story it says.

USA, Canada / a little question about dollar [19]

thanx fisz.
have you noticed anything unusual since the dollar crashed down 2 years ago?
i mean rising prices of goods in the usa?what about wages?have they changed drastically?

I would say it would be logical to assume that since you are getting less currency in exchange for your Dollar it would be safe to say that you would be able to buy less goods, unless you buy more currency thus spending more so not getting the same value as you might have had the year previous. Hope that makes sense...

thinking straight.if the dollar has lost it's real value than the prices in the usa would have gone up because the import of goods would be less profitable.if nothing's changed with the prices it should mean that the loss in the dollar,s value is artificial(probably to help the government pay off their debts) and is short term only.

FISZ

Amathyst

thanx for your comments good people:)
i bought dollars when the exchange rate was 3.9zl:) and now tryin' to figure out what to do to get out of this.i spoke to a few people about the future but noone gave me a clear answer.i wonder if i could buy some goods in the usa and sell them in poland without paying a tax but what would that be?

i don't need to use this money now but would have to in the future.just wonder if dollar will stay on this level or rise in the near future. i know that there were a few times when dollar went down but later it gained it's original value.

UK, Ireland / Living in Poland vs England from the Economical Point of View [13]

you are right hello.i know a few crazy people who work 7 days a week and have 2 jobs.all of them have their reason to do it.some are under the red line back in poland or try to make up the hard times of communism and buy everything at once.usually these are the people who just came over here. i worked a lot of ours as well and not always it was my choice.now i slowed down a bit.go out more often travel abroad2-3 times a year and buy what i want-just what others do.

Travel / Places to visit Poland for the New Year? [30]

Whats Zamosc like?

hi rusty.
zamosc is beautifull, you would like it-especially the old town.
my english friend liked the place but got bored after a few days so i would recommend this town for a short term stay only.there are a few pubs and restaurants around the old town.prices are good, everythings is much cheaper than in big cities (a pint of zywiec in a pub cost around 0.8-0.9£,pizza 3-4 pounds).

the hotels are expensive but still cheaper than in the uk and their quality is good.
if you want some cheap accomodation i can recommend you one restaurant/motel.its name is "ORZEL" and is on the way to KRASNOBROD (lipska street). one night may cost you up to 10£pp and the rooms are quite comfy.the restaurant is about 10-15min walk from the town centre.

UK, Ireland / We welcome Polish people to Britain! [224]

We can change it to Catholic republic of Londonistan.

please don't!
would you like to listen to "RADIO MARYJA" in english?

Hey I'm from Poland and I'm not sure... It's good idea to go to the UK now? Is there still enough place for me? I'm serious! ;-)

it is not the best time of the year to find a job in the uk.you may fing some part-time,short term jobs for a christmast period but usually, most of the employers would ask you to come back after the new years eve or even after a 1st week of january.this is from my experience an exparience of a few of my friends.

there are a lot of poles in the uk now but there are still a lot of vacancies available.it used to be easier to get a job for somebody who didn't speak english because now the emloyers tend to employ poles with reasonable english, which in your case, seems not to be an issue.

Life / How many people really know English in Poland? [53]

Is it growing?

i bet it is!
before his journey to zamosc/poland my friend asked me if he would have problems with communication when buying things, ordering in a restaurant, hiring a taxi.i said "yes you will" because it is a small town. guess what? he didn't have any problem at all.wherever he went there always were people who spoke english.

btw.bartek212 is right.the older people are ,the least likely they speak english.
