Yes, I know what you're saying with the security token and number. We use it here too. I agree that Poland is pretty well equipped technologically in that respect, but you must admit that there is still plenty of unnecessary bureaucracy when it comes to post office or any official business in town hall or village hall. The necessary paperwork and signatures needed are form 30 years ago.

But, that's OK..for now.
Someday one can walk in, ask to get a business license in (whatever) and walk out with one held in his/hers hand :)

You people in this EU should really treat each other better. How can you be a "Union" when you're constantly so divided? I don't believe in better or worse.

The cultural difference, upbringing and some values might be different, but not necessarily better in either. The strong 'family" ties thing is questionable. If we love our family so much - why don't we hesitate to leave them for a dollar or a pound? Often, the children are abandoned because of that.

The amount of people looking for their roots amazes me. It seems like we're living in some kind of identity crises times now. The search for identity is enormous, it is almost fashionable to to list your heritage, it's a part of conversations at a party...third generation descendants improvising cooking foods what they 'think" their "busia' or 'nana" did...why not then but now?

I'm driving a Ford for the last 8 years and it is as good as any other. I'm due for a new one soon and just out of spite - I don't want a foreign one.

I hope the big three can survive and learn a lesson, for the sake of people who work there. As F15Guy said, it's better to have a job for $30 or so than none at all.

I don't like the whole bail out situation. It's just rewarding the very bad management. Anybody would love to mess up and then get this "bail out". They call it a bridge loan, which will be repaid, but who can guarantee that the 'bridge' will be paid? I think they should stop the extravagant pays, go humble for a while, keep on working and doing a good job at it. We don't really need the market flooded with Japanese cars. I'm sure GM, Ford and other CAN do a good job. $45/hr is enough for now. The country does good, we all do good. In the mean time, as long as you make enough for your fairly comfortable living, take it. Nobody NEEDS a corporate jet, just fly on business in a darn commercial plane just like everybody also. Wal-Mart execs can do it - so can Ford's and GM's.

Heya, beckski. I think, Italian gold is mostly 18kt.
It's the Russian which is 14kt. I wear a ring made in Russia, 14kt, which I bought when still in Poland. It looks very different and gets everybody's attention here.

I live in the greater Chicago "burb" and I commute to work 20 miles. When asked where I live, and I answer, I'm asked "Where's that"?...I heard about it". lol. Lots of people in the USA keep close to home, anything further away is a big unknown. I've met an elderly person in Chicago who never went to see Lake Michigan - it was too far!
