Language / When does polish "ch" sound like eng "ch" and when is it "h"? [59]

Pronounced identically according to standard linguistics but there are variations to the rule and that's my point. You even admitted as much before. It even says above and I don't think that group is so small.

Dariusz, an LLM is chosen by some lawyers with money to gain extra expertise and insight into their chosen area but you need a DipLP to first become a lawyer which I don't have and don't want (I chose it to further some of the themes in my Honours year which I liked and I knew I couldn't be a lawyer proper long before). I completed my tertiary education 9 years ago and was happy with it. I've been an English teacher, phonetics included, for almost 7 years. That's much more to the point.

History / "GANGING UP" ON POLAND? [99]

Seanny is absolutely right. Just look at what could have happened in Yugoslavia under Kakadardevo. Milosevic and Tudjman with their carving knives at the ready :(

News / JEW YOUTH SHOULD CLEAN UP THEIR ACT IN POLAND [420]

I won't defend them for that, Yehudi. Still, try to feel their fear, they were under pressure and not true supporters of Hitler's cause. You know that and they were short of options. They couldn't escort many Jews out of the country that easily. Many Poles stayed to fight and spent more time defending their own walls.

Yeah, Torq, that was a fair commentary by Yehudi :) I agree.

News / JEW YOUTH SHOULD CLEAN UP THEIR ACT IN POLAND [420]

Well, it's more to the point that many Poles were not in a position to help Jews on any meaningful scale. Some were able to, as has been documented in various literature.

Also, spare a little thought for Yehudi. To my knowledge, he doesn't support the broader Zionist plans and also had 6,000,000 of his people die. The main reason Americans die is by fighting needless wars.

Genealogy / Bochenek family [5]

I know a student who lives near Katowice called Bochenek.

I was trying to elicit a specific response from you. If sb killed my family on purpose, I'd never forgive them and I believe in many Christian tenets. Reality is different from biblical writings anyway.

Love / WHY DO YOUNGER POLES FEAR MARRIAGE? [6]

Marriage denies them mobility to some extent. Also, it isn't that cheap, all things included. However, Pol3, many do get married young.

History / "GANGING UP" ON POLAND? [99]

It would seem that way. Poland is NOT a Soviet satellite, that's true.

I thought you were saying that the demands should be met in post 16, provided it was the Germans that met them. Maybe I read it wrong.

I'm suggesting that if Poland feels strongly enough about sth, it should take action.

History / "GANGING UP" ON POLAND? [99]

I'm not saying that Poland should, that wouldn't be fair. However, Merkel's Germany is not a Nazi regime in my eyes ;) ;)

You suggested payments should be made above, PK. Why can't Poland take a clear stand on sth and enforce it THERE AND THEN? Why bicker and whine for many years? Do sth about it!

Food / Does Polish pierogi also have its story of origin? [43]

Jiaozi are gyouza? You are from Guandong Province? Oh, Polish pierogi are similar in that you must be delicate. It's easy to put a hole in one of them if you are too heavy handed. It's important to pack the right level of filling, otherwise excessive bulging could destroy them.

Chinese cuisine is excellent, I love it.

History / "GANGING UP" ON POLAND? [99]

Another joker! Why should modern day Germany, who already gives much through the EU, give anything of the sort? The people who should have paid such costs are long gone. Get over it! Also, don't sour relations with the Ukrainians.

I agree with your second part, though.

That's PO for you, they are Jewish sympathisers. Anyone who is humanitarian should sympathise with what happened to them but I expect a more balanced approach from the governing party.

Language / When does polish "ch" sound like eng "ch" and when is it "h"? [59]

Well, I have to say that there is a slight difference. Just think of it, the ch in RUCH almost sounds like you are gonna start to say sth Dutch. The 'h' in English is gentler. Just say ROOHHH and then say HAT. You don't say hhhhat with a semi-Dutch sound. You just say hat delicately.

Stop after saying the RUE in ruch and then make the ch sound. Then try the same with LE and then the ch for lech. The ch in lech is more like a cat hissing. It's a more open ch with lech and a more pulled ch with ruch.

Language / When does polish "ch" sound like eng "ch" and when is it "h"? [59]

Well, I take it back. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that point. The Poles don't say ch as the English h.

Sorry but ruch is like rue hhh but plk123 is making out like it's rue h.

The Poles may have been taught to think that ch is just like h but I have heard differently.

Gh, I'd say it's more like HOJ or the English surname Hodge.

Food / Poland and the Juice [35]

Bear in mind that they may be Cappy products which are not Polish but American as it is held by Coca Cola.

Poland doesn't have enough freshly-squeezed orange juice.

Language / When does polish "ch" sound like eng "ch" and when is it "h"? [59]

This is where Scottish pron comes in. Hata is decidely weaker than chata with the Dutch thing behind the ch in chata. When I hear Ruch Chorzów, it doesn't sound so weak to me.

Not only easterly Poles, dariusz. I hear it here quite often.
