Life / Which school to send my kids in Lodz? Private or public? [18]

anamak,

Some of the local kids will have a laugh at your 4 year old because they won't understand him/her. It will be a form of bullying and it might affect your child. Watch out for it.

The ten year old should be better able to deal with it. But, again, look out for the signs.

I must stress MIGHT have problems.

Language / Television to learn Polish/English. What should I be watching? [33]

Check PolSat and Cyfra

Polsat should carry: Polonia, TVPI, TVP2.

We need a bigger dish to get Sky, so you might need a bigger dish to get some or all of the channels you want.

Even with the same decoder a bigger dish will pick up more channels.

When you move house. Do you mean in England or do you mean to Poland ? Just checking.

Language / Television to learn Polish/English. What should I be watching? [33]

Find the channel you want, then find the satellite which provides it, then find a company which uses that satellite.

Sometimes a company will only advertise the channels they think you want. But there maybe extra channels [not mentioned], which are the ones you want.

Ask a neighbour to check their system. Have them go through all the channels to see if they've got what you want. And take it from there.

News / Countries in Europe where abortion is allowed/not allowed? [110]

Yes, you are right. Young women, especially, should know the mental torment that an abortion can cause. Although I have met women who have been through this procedure I have no idea what is running through their minds. Your case does underline the fact that contraception should be taken seriously. And women not men should have the final say.

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

A,

I understood what you were getting at.

If you ask Polish men why they married English women I doubt you'd get an answer.

Because then they would have to admit that English and Polish women are at least equal in terms of beauty etc.

There must be at least 1,000 wasted posts on this forum about something that either doesn't exist or is not important in the least.

Real Estate / Buying apartment in Wroclaw [16]

uroman,

That's my part of town. The new blocks are nice. The old blocks are being done up. There is a new shopping/office complex being built in the area. It's 10/15 minutes walk from the centre. It's the oldest part of town apart from Rynek. It's a mixture of good and bad. People from other parts of town sometimes fear to tread here. Others say don't be stupid. Good shops. Good communications. A good place if you are renting to students.

Wroclaw is full of areas with what looks like rough housing. Don't confuse that with the people who live in these areas. We are good people here.

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

can I have go at this.

I would think that most men find a partner who shares the same interest in sex and relationships as they do. We are all different and have different tastes. Therefore there is no single answer.

There are men and women here who meet on the internet and are happy with a one night stand. Some might hope that it turns into something regular.

There are others who go for the traditional approach. Meet in a club, and take it from there.

On the whole I would say that Polish men are no different to any others. And this talk of women who surrender on the first night and men not seeing them again is total bollocks.

I know what young people get up to. I speak to them every day.

Food / Vegetarian food in Poland? [83]

B

True. But they will cease to exist as a species. They will not need to be replaced.

Food / Vegetarian food in Poland? [83]

If we all become vegetarian there will be no need for livestock. So, all the cows and pigs etc will go straight to the slaughter house. All to make room for more crops.

UK, Ireland / Scotland/Poland the brave [23]

Thats not quite what it said. Interesting that the orders for the tartan kept the makers in business. I'm not sure if I like this tartan. I prefer darker versions.

If anyone hasn't seen it it's red white and blue. The blue is for Scotland.

I wonder if these Polish/Scotsmen will proudly walk the streets of Krakow in their 'skirts'
